Er, that would be a no from me, dawg.

I have a horrible phobia of rodents, mice and rats in particular. Just reading these posts is giving me the heebie-jeebies. I once got into an elevator with a woman who had a dyed-blue pet rat perched on her shoulder, which I didn't notice until the doors closed. Sincerely thought about going out the escape hatch and shimmying up the cable to get away. :scared1:

No. I had fish growing up. As an adult my DH and I have rescued 2 dogs in the over 20 years we have been married.

I had hamsters, gerbils, and a guinea pig as a kid. Haven't had any other small pets since then, just the two current cats.

We had teddy bear hamsters, both when I was growing up and when my kids were growing up.

We're in the process of trying to get rid of mice that have come in, and you'd think they were pets. Sigh.

Have had a few. Must say I enjoyed them a ton more when I was a kid and it was not my job to clean up the wood chippings toilet...so there's that.

I had all manner of rodents when I was a kid/teen: gerbils, hamsters and Guinea pigs.

We also had rats when my DD was a kid/teen. I found the rats to be the superior pet. Sadly, their life span is very short. My DD23 adopted 3 ratling boys a couple of years ago. She's down to one final old boy who is getting close to 3 years old. She dotes on him.

We had a hamster. My daughter wanted one and his cage was in her room. He had a big plastic ball that we put him in and he would wander around the house and annoy the cat.
Sadly they don't live very long, 2-3 years. He's buried in the front yard.
His name was Emeirl, name for TV chef Emeril Lagasse who was at his peak when we got the hamster.

My son had a couple of hamsters over the years. He trained on to sit on his shoulder.

We are on our second hamster. Our first hamster was Mia... Mia HAMMster. DD got Mia when her marriage fell apart and she moved back home into her own apartment. She wanted a cat but wasn't allowed, so she got Mia. Mia was a funny little girl, would come out and run on her wheel. She didn't mind being handled and was actually kind of nice to have. Unfortunately she only lived a couple of years and is now out in the front garden, under a nice flat, heavy piece of slate that has her name on it. Our current hamster is Jingle. Santa brought Jingle this Christmas for my son-in-law's 6 year old. I am not a huge Jingle fan. She is pretty skittish. She doesn't come out much, doesn't like to be handled, and looks kind-of frantic when I do see her. I keep hoping she'll grow on me.

We had a guinea pig and gerbils when DDs were young.

I wanted one when I was a kid, but my mother wouldn’t allow it.

I've had a couple hamsters in my time. Unfortunately they did not live very long. I DID kind of have a mouse for about 10 minutes (when I was a teenager). I caught a mouse in the barn and brought it in the house. I put it in the hamster cage we had. The mouse ran around the cage for a little bit, then slipped through the bars never to be seen again. I finally told my dad not long ago what happened.... I am 51 now :rolleyes1

Just waiting for someone with a pet beaver or porcupine.

My daughters first pet was an orange and white hamster named Sweatpea. It was. A sad day when she passed.

My sister had a pet mouse. I had brought it home from biology class for the summer, but we kept him for years.

Our sons had hamsters.
