Have you ever had a pet rodent?
If yes…..what?
(multiple choice)

For Me…..We have one now - a Guinea Pig named Zoe.
She‘s almost 7 years old and we love this little girl so much.
She is so personable and loving.
I never knew a Guinea Pig could have a fun personality and respond to people like she does.

In the past, when I was teenager, I had a Hamster named Squirt.
He was a fun little guy too.

This is our Zoe ⬇️
I took this picture this morning

We has a guinea pig years ago when DSS was young. We now have a pair of gerbils, Snicker and Doodle, who are personable and hilarious.

ETA: my two cats don't bother them at all :)

Our family has had many small rodent pets over the years including gerbils, hamsters, and guinea pigs. Guinea pigs, by far, are the most fun and easiest pets. They're personable, interact well with you, and will cuddle for a long time with you (whereas our gerbils and hamsters were always on the run and wouldn't stay with any of the kids). Since they're very social creatures, we've always had 2+ guinea pigs at a time. I highly recommend guinea pigs to anyone looking for a lovable pet.

ps - Zoe is very cute! Thanks for sharing the picture.

Oh, I know that not all cats would. My old cat was named Sylvester, but he was really more like Garfield. He was fat and lazy. One time a squirrel got in the house and he didn't even get up! He could see it too - it was right in front of him. He just looked up at me like, "What the heck, man?"

My current cat though - oh man! She doesn't like other animals at all and loves to hunt toys and things around the house. She would never tolerate it.

We have had all manner of pets - just about everything from scoop to nuts times two - too much for me to list - thank God I’m now down to one cat and one dog and their staying is dicey at best 🤣🤣

DS had a hamster years ago. Worst pet. It slept most of the day and ran in its wheel all night and chewed the plastic cage— very noisy. When it was out of its cage it always tried to run away. Thankfully its life span was about 2 years. After that she got a mouse. It was quiet and cute but died after a couple of weeks. That was the end of rodent pets. We switched to fish. Then a cat.

We had three gerbils at one time. The kids would let them run all over the book case and as a result, we had lots of chewed books. The cat learned to ignore them after several failed attempts to capture them.We didn't get any more rodents after they passed away.

I had mice when I was younger.
DD had a hamster.
DS had mice

None now for any of us

We had two gerbils. They were very personable, fun, and easy to care for. One of them got an untreatable tumor in his abdomen. He was always the sentinel and would often watch alone from the highest point of their cage. As he got sicker, he spent all his time there. His brother started going up to be with him. This is from a couple days before the sick brother died. (He’s the one on top.) It was so sad.

At one point we had 7 deer mice and one house mouse. The deer mice we found as babies in our cellar (the first 4) and in the shop vac in the garage (3 more a couple years later) and hand raised. The house mouse was a companion for the lone male deer mouse, as deer mice and house mice can't breed. I loved the deer mice, the house mice were pretty dumb.

Well, not me exactly (I’m not a pet person) but DS did have three guinea pigs over the years when he was growing up.

None here. Just fish and a dog. Well the kids did have hermit crabs over the years. Those were okay.
