Peeler only. I have two, but only like and use one of them. My DH uses the other one.
Same here. We each have our preferred style that we think works better and is more comfortable to handle.

I use this one, and peel outward. IMG_1076.jpeg
DH uses this one.

I use the peeler mostly. I have used the paring knife, but it doesn't peel off the skin as thinly, in my experience.

I also use the peeler for carrots. I've never thought about using it for apples, though. When I want the skin off those, it's the paring knife.

I’ve never peeled any vegetable with a paring knife. Maybe apples for pie, but that’s it.

I like the straight peelers, not the U shaped ones. Always peel away from me.

Peeler all the way. I have the old-fashioned long type. I have 3: everyday use, backup, and one I use just for slicing cheeses. I do use a knife for peeling winter squashes.
I can usually peel a potato, or apple in one long strip, or maybe 2. Standard carrot is 10 strips. Peel apples and potatoes toward me, carrots and other stuff away. Probably because I learned to peel from my Dad, who was a lefty.

Tried a knife a few times, but 1) found it takes too deep a cut, and 2) almost took my finger off with it once :scared:

And this pic is my favorite peeler. I actually have an extra one stashed away. I love my DH but when he's in the kitchen things get lost, accidently thrown away, etc, etc. He does cook an awesome prime rib roast on my birthday, tho.

Growing up we used to peel 10 lbs every single day, and always were expected to use a paring knife. I've got plenty of scars on my hands to prove it. I'm good with a paring knife now, but a *good* peeler is my preferred tool. None of those rattly metal models that end up with a spinning blade; I insist on one with a good solid ergonomic handle. I own 3 Oxos, and I swear by them.

I use a peeler. My mom uses a paring knife and I have no idea how she does it. I end up with a nub of a potato if I try and use a knife lol
