First of all…..I know not everyone has been to WDW, but from what I see, there’s more people here that have than haven’t. If you haven’t been to WDW, please select the option “I’ve never been to WDW” in the poll.

I saw the below picture on Facebook and I thought it was a pretty interesting picture so I saved it. Then I decided to make a poll from it.

WDW has an amazing and efficient transportation system. There’s the monorail that takes us to the different resorts around the Seven Seas Lagoon, the MK, the TTA and to EPCOT. There’s the Ferry that takes us from the TTA to the MK. There’s the watercraft that takes us to & from DS from different resorts, and to & from EPCOT, HS and the MK from different resorts. There’s the Skyliner that takes us to & from EPCOT or HS from different resorts. Then there’s the buses that take us to & from everywhere in the Disney bubble. So much free transportation for everyone to enjoy, even those not staying inside the Disney bubble. When people start commenting to me about how expensive WDW is, they forget about so many things, like this transportation that is taken for granted. Disney could charge everyone who rides each mode of transportation, especially those that aren’t staying on property, but they don’t. This transportation isn’t free for WDW. Someone has to pay those that operate/drive the transportation, maintain each of them, fix them when they stop running, keep the roads smooth (I rarely see potholes there) and etc. Do I wish WDW wasn’t so expensive? Of course, but when I start thinking about everything that costs them money, that I take for granted, I understand why. So with all that…..let’s talk about the WDW transportation that we have used and enjoyed.

Have you been to WDW?
If yes……Which complimentary WDW transportation have you used & enjoyed?
(multiple choice)

For Me……I’ve been going to WDW since 1976, when I was 5 years old, and I’ve been many times since then. I’ve used every mode of transportation except the watercraft. One day we need to ride it, just so we can say we rode on it. Truth be told, we drive to many places. If we stay at a resort that’s not on SSL, then we drive to the TTA. Regardless where we stay, we always drive to HS. On EPCOT day we always drive to HS and take the Skyliner to EPCOT so we can rope drop from the international gateway. We always drive to AK and DS. We are not a lover of taking the buses. It’s nothing against the buses, we’ve had no bad experience with the buses, I just don’t want to wait for them, sit with hot sweaty people (I’m one of those people), have all the stops before mine and etc. I just want to get in my car and go. I also like the freedom of getting in the car and taking a last minute detour to do something other than go where the bus is going. We have not rode a WDW bus since 2002. My DD21 asked me in March, on our last trip, “Have I ever been on a WDW bus?” and I told her No. Yes, it costs money to rent a car, but I don’t care, I factor it into the vacation budget. I would feel to trapped without a car and that would make me feel uncomfortable and anxious.

My visit this year was actually the FIRST TIME I ever used any Disney Transport. Last year it was just a rental car. Disney Transport is 10x better than those contracted “UNFabulous Buses” that my non-Disney hotel uses to take us to Disney. At least they tell you more reliably when the next bus/boat is and they ACTUALLY SHOW UP ON TIME OR EARLIER!

I have rode every means of Transportation at WDW Including getting cabs and Ubers I hate taking the bus for a whole host of reasons but I still do it
Several trips I have gotten a rental car and I love the freedom of having a rental car that does not keep me from riding the monorail but it will keep me from riding the bus But I’ve also had several trips where I didn’t get a rental car and I relied solely on their transportation
Do I enjoy waiting at the end of the night for a bus no I do not have I been on a bus where we’re all singing yes I have it was great fun Have I gotten into fights on a bus yes I have several times Have I met some really nice people and had some really wonderful conversations yes I have several times I rode the buses back in the day or you could just about stand anywhere on the bus back when they used to pack them so full it was ridiculous
I’ve been on the monorail when it was just packed beyond belief I’ve been lucky enough to ride up front in the monorail with the driver awesome memories
I enjoy DISNEY transportation and I enjoy the fact that it is free it’s a wonderful option that they give us I really wish they would bring back the transportation from the airport for free I really miss magical express

I've used them all. The ferry the least. The buses the most.
We never have a car of our own and I like it that way.
Love the boat from OKW (where we usually stay) and use that whenever we go to DS

We've used everything but the personal watercrafts. The friendship boats and the skyliner are easily my favorite. Riding both of those and sometimes the monorail on our arrival day is one of our favorite traditions.

I been going to WDW since the first year it was opened. I have used every form of transportation listed above. One of the biggest attractions of staying at a WDW resort is the ability to go everywhere without a car. :)

I stayed at an offsite condo with my sister back in November. It required parking a car before heading into the park, something we haven't done in over 20 years. It made me appreciate the Disney transportation system even more.

I probably have skewed the poll because I HAVE been to Disney (dozens of times), have used all the forms of transportation, but hate the buses so try to rent a car- so I checked most of the boxes. I uber-hate the buses and having to stand in long lines after being on my feet for 12 hours in a theme park in the Florida sun for the privilege of being packed into a bus like sardines, pressed up against the steaming, sweaty crankiness of mankind. I always rent a car... well, I DID always rent a car. When Disney established Magical Express, it made being an onsite resort guest more affordable, and that's when we started doing resort stays (instead of significantly more affordable, usually nicer, off-site hotels). It didn't make me love the buses any more so I'd still try rent a car. THEN the pandemic hit and car prices got foolish, and here we are now, captive to Disney transport. I'll still get a car if I can get a killer deal, but those are few and far between now, and issues with Dollar means I'll never rent from them again, so... Mears and Disney are now our main forms of transport.

I will add... We have always used Disney transport for fun. Ferries, boats, skyliner, and monorail (Best "break" is to ride the monorail from MK to Epcot and back, mid-afternoon, when not too many others are on it. Gives the feet a rest while still feeling like you are part of the magic.) On "down days" we might do a DIsney Transport day, trying to see how many different transportation forms we can ride without going into a park or duplicating a method of transport. THe skyliner and monorail are my favorites, although I like the boats/ferry, too. I just hate the danged buses!

Totally agree! The whole Disney experience is not just confined to the 4 theme parks. I love the new designs that the buses have started wrapping recently.

The best part of Disney to me is not needed a car. We normally stay at BWI. We walk to Epcot, boat or walk to Hollywood studios, bus to MK, rarely go to AK. I never take the skyliner. I’m cranky about what it did to the international entrance to Epcot. I don’t see why people can’t clear security before boarding and drop them in the other side. The entrance was not built for that amount of people.

We loathe the busses, but have used them when needed. We always have a car bc we own a condo in FL. We try to stay at a Disney resort once a year for our summer vacay. I love the monorail and skyliner. I think the transportation is awesome for families not to have to rent a car.
I love that map of the transportation.. so cool!

We used just about every type of transportation as well. These days we tend to use a 50/50 combo of WDW transportation & Uber. We also like staying at the Epcot resorts if possible since we can easily walk to both Epcot & Studios.

I enjoy the various forms of transportation @ WDW and have taken them all.
Our fav resort has become BWI in part because you can readily walk to at least two parks. Which is not to say the Friend ships aren’t fun and efficient too.

Over the years I have used all the modes of transportation, including walking and a car. It is nice to have the options, though sometimes they don’t work out maximally. (I am looking at you end of day bus service waits, some Friendship boat rides that were a tad too warm inside, and when the board says the next bus is arriving in two minutes and somehow it just vanishes!).

It can also be difficult/time consuming to go to certain places using just Disney transportation, depending on your starting location of course.

I miss not being able to ride with the monorail pilots, and the water mice (they never made a return, did they?)

I've only been to Hollywood Studios, but still used the skyliner & bus to get to Disney Springs for dinner after.

My first trip to Disneyworld I was 14 (1973) with my Mom and grandparents and have been back many times, most recently last November when I did a week long solo trip. Love not having to drive everywhere and so appreciate all the Disney transportation.

I've used everything except the watercraft, and historically have always had a hire car too for driving between if needed or for trips outside of Disney.

In future I won't be bothering with a hire car and just relying solely on Disney transport (mostly buses) or taxis for journeys elsewhere. The costs of hiring a car for me, plus fuel, parking costs (for Universal) etc just aren't worth it when there's so much other transport on offer. Plus not having a car means you dont have to worry about having some nice wine, cocktails or alcoholic slushies from the many on offer when you're out and about 😉

Every mode except the Skyliner. We haven’t stayed at a hotel which has service, nor have we ridden it for fun (yet).

Been on everything! We do rent a car but there are occasions where the Disney transpo system is more convenient.
