Slippery Bath Tubs

I just got back from a hotel in Hershey Park Pa. The bath tub was so slippery that my kids (2 1/2 and 4) had a difficult time taking a bath. We will be staying at the ASmovies in September for 7 days along with my mom who has a bad ankle. Does anyone know if their tubs are just as slippery? If so got any solutions to prevent falls?!

I can't tell you for sure what the tubs are like. If it's a concern, you could purchase a rubber bat mat and put it in your luggage. That will solve the problem.

I just read in Heloise that someone recommended the shelf liner that is the cushion type...they have it at my Dollar Tree...Sam's has it. It is super tiny square...feels foam like. They said to roll that up in your suitcase. I found decent size rolls at the dollar store...then you could just leave it there and not have to take it back.

I've had that problem at all the resorts. The tubs were either very slippery or too rough from the non stick stuff that is sprayed on some of them. I just put a hand towel on the bottom of the tub and sat my DD on it. She liked the padding it made and she never slipped.

We had this problem at the Boardwalk when our babies were about a year old. We were sure to pack a cheapo, bathmat from walmart for our next trip. Of course they had their sea legs by then and did not really need it.

never had a problem with a too slippery ub, but a word of warning--at the BWV the floors in the bathroom are SERIOUSLY slippery when they get wet--I've slipped several times over the year son them in both shoes and bare feet.

I wish that they would leave a Swiffer or something in the rooms to mop up dripped water on those floors.

Thanks so much! Never thought about those shelf liners. Those would be very light weight to pack too!

You mean like towels? ;)

I've never noticed the tubs being particularly slippery, but the shower door (glass, btw) falling completely off it's hinges when I stepped out of the shower while staying at OKW was a bit of a shock.

I was dripping wet, holding a HEAVY glass shower door on a slippery tile floor all alone and wondering just what was the best way to get to the phone to call maintenance!

I would have hated to see what would have happened if I hadn't caught the door before it hit the floor.

To their credit, they had someone to my room within minutes to repair it.

We're DVC members. So we only get one set of towels per person in the room. We have to pay if we want extras from housekeeping. So mopping up wet floors with bath towels isn't really always an option.

Perhaps if you explained the slippery floor problem, they wouldn't charge you for the extra towels? How expensive are extra towels?

$4 for a set of 1 bath, 1 hand, 1 face.

The point is, in a Home Away From Home where a broom and vaccuum are supplied, you'd think they'd add a sponge mop or swiffer for the non-carpeted areas.
