Slipper dessert - that good?

We're having dinner at the 1900 Park Fare in May. I've seen the slipper desert on the threads and always thought it looked cute. However, there's just us two adults going. Should we order the slipper? Will we be missing out on a special PF dessert? Should we order the slipper and a dessert and share? Or is the castle cake a better choice? It's a birthday trip for both of us but I wasn't gonna order a big cake as not worth it for two! Thanks :)

I ordered it only as a surprise for my mom on mother's day. I would not want to order it just as a dessert, personally. It's a solid piece of white chocolate - we couldn't finish it. It's more of a novelty thing as a surprise for someone than a dessert to savor, IMO.

We ordered it for our 4 year old as a birthday treat. We had been to BBB and she thought it was wonderful that Cinderella brought it out to her.... it was yummy but the tray of desserts we were served were yummy too. We were at Park Fare during rehab... and we won't probably get it again, but it was fun to get once!

My hubby and I like to pre-order this when we have afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian. We always split it because otherwise it's too much to eat.

It's very good - the vanilla creme mousse inside the slipper is wonderful and light and while neither of us are big fans of white chocolate we stll manage to eat the entire slipper. The dessert also comes with a dark chocolate teardrop filled with milk chocolate mousse.

If you both like chocolate and want the chance to experience a little something extra then I say go ahead and order. The presentation alone is worth the price ($14.50) - it's like a miniature work of art.

Here's a picture from October 2007:

We've also ordered the miniature castle cake and that was also very very good - and almost too pretty to eat. The cost for that was about $25 and I believe you get your choice of vanilla or chocolate cake.

Just for fun ... here's a picture of that one:

We ordered both for a magical 'wow' moment but the slipper dessert wasn't really eaten by us. There is so much dessert included in our meal and the slipper dessert is very rich that it was barely touched.

IMHO, the mini-wedding cake with the white chocolate castle on top was better and we ate quite a bit more of it than the slipper dessert.

For us, both of these items were ordered more to have that 'wow' magical moment; not really because they are the best desserts at WDW cause IMHO, they really aren't. They are beautiful and rich but not the best desserts at WDW but I'd order them again in a heartbeat for that magical moment! :thumbsup2

I have never had the slipper dessert, but I was going to order it this year. I did order the castle cake last I had sent to the room and it was so nice and it tasted so good. I think it was 100% better then the big cake I ordered.

When do you order the slipper dessert?

I have a reservation for the Afternoon Tea and was hoping to share a slipper with DBF... would you call like a couple of weeks beforehand?

Hayley, call the GF about two weeks before your scheduled tea and make sure you have your ADR# so that the bakery can link the special dining request to your reservation.

You'll love it! :goodvibes

I can't imagine that I'd be thrilled foodwise with just a chunk of white chocolate with some mousse in it.

A much better term for this one would be "a dessert novelty." I'd think it's ordered for the way it looks far more than for the food aspect.
