The best way to lose weight is a change in lifestyle, not a pill. I took a quick look online and don't see anything in Slim Quick pills that makes me think it is any different then anything else.
In my opinion the best method is to journal everything you eat. It will force you to look at the label, know what a single serving is, and track everything. Most people underestimate the calories they take in and many times it is because we eat multiple servings in a single meal. For example filling a cereal bowl with your morning cereal and milk is often times 3 or 4 servings of each.
Along with knowing what you are consuming an increase in physical activity also helps. I think the 30 minutes of daily exercise is low but you also don't want to over do it at the start and end up hurt.
Losing weight isn't an overnight thing so give it time.
