DD brought home her Social Studies book yesterday to show me "the best thing in the world" - Walt Disney! The first chapter is about communities & there was a section on what Walt had originally planned for EPCOT.

Gotta love a school district that teaches 3rd graders about Disney!!! pixiedust:

This probably isn't where you intended to take this thread, but I'm going there anyway. I am actually very disappointed in what Epcot has turned into. I remember during my trips in high school (early 90's), EPCOT Center was my favorite park; even more favorite than MK. I loved all of the science and technology, and how they tried to make learning fun. (Did that make me a geek, and I didn't even know it?) And now they've just turned it into another theme park with thrill rides. I don't remember where it was, but I remember reading something (might have been a Blog somewhere) that went into this in much greater detail. I understand they are just trying to give the majority of people who visit WDW what they want, but there are some of us out there who don't mind learning a thing or two while on vacation. There are plenty of thrill rides at the other parks, so why couldn't they leave the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow alone? I doubt this is what Walt had in mind when he first dreamed up this addition to WDW.
