Just received a new IPod Touch as a sales incentive from my job:banana: and I've downloaded some podcasts. Will it automatically download new podcasts when I go into ITunes on my laptop? I've subcribed to a few podcasts but I'm not sure what "subscribing" does.
I feel like I've just tapped into a whole new vein of Disney knowledge to feed my Disney obsession!!!!!:cool1:
I also want to download a movie to watch on the plane. Nothing was coming up when I clicked on movies in Itunes.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Pixi - Congrats! You'll love your new iTouch. I find myself getting annoyed when I go somewhere and there's no free WiFi -- how spoiled is that?!

It is really easy to get the latest podcasts in iTunes -- click 'subscribe', and then the next time you open iTunes, it should download the latest version. It it doesn't just click on the Refresh button in the lower right and iTunes will search out any new editions and download them. Then when you plug in your iTouch, the new podcasts will automatically be synched. Just don't forget to delete the episodes you no longer need. You do that by deleting them in iTunes, then synching will clear them off your iPod.

For fun, go to the iTunes store, choose podcasts, then do a search on keywords, like Disney or coaster -- that way you can check out the world of podcasts ( none as good as the DIS, of course!!!). You'll be amazed at how many podcasts there are in this world and on how many topics!

For movies, make sure you are clicking on "movies" in the iTunes Store rather than your iTunes Library. If you would like to burn a DVD on to your iPod, download a free program called Handbrake. It is difficult to use at first, but when you get used to the interface it gets pretty easy.

Hope that helps! :)

Simon, That's interesting to hear about Handbrake -- I've heard of it, but never used it. I snagged a similar program called Crunch from Roxio -- not free, but really cheap with a rebate. Haven't used it yet, but will next time we travel someplace to put a movie on the iTouch for DD....

I will second the recommendation for Handbrake. It even has a preset for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

it copies any movie it copies in real time
So if you copy a movie that is long it could take awhile.
I copy my movie's at night so much easier.

I don't think that is entirely accurate. Handbrake doesn't rip DVDs in "real time" but it may seem like that depending on your computers specs. My iMac can rip a DVD in about 15 to 18 minutes; but my old G4 took about 7 hours. Same program, just different operating specifications.

handbrake crashed for me everytime I specified a source :(

:goodvibes

You can change settings for the podcasts that you're subscribed to under Edit > Preferences > Podcasts. You can change how often iTunes checks for new podcast episodes, download options, etc. When you have your iPod plugged in and click on it, you can specify what iTunes does when you connect/sync your iPod, including which podcasts to keep synchronized, how many episodes you want stored on the iPod, etc.

Thanks for all your help! I'm enjoying learning all these new things I can do with this Ipod!:thumbsup2
