I was asked yesterday if I could create a slideshow on CD/DVD (with music) using some images I've taken. I have very little slideshow experience...I played around last night with Windows Movie Maker and didn't get very professional results (the image quality was very degraded when produced in the slideshow). For any of you photo slideshow experts: What would you recommend as far as software? What other advice can you provide? Thanks in advance for the help!

I used ProShow Gold to create these shows (different versions of the same show, the exe is the highest quality).
One point, the base resolution of a DVD is 720 x 480 and that is the best many programs deliver. PS Gold can output HD which looks great on a monitor or on a HD set if you have a means of getting it to the TV (computer HDMI cable or Blu-Ray recorder).

PS Gold (and Pictures to exe) can also output exe which looks really good on a monitor.

Trying using Photostory 3 by microsoft. It's free on their site. Its simple and the right price.

It depends on how it will be shown. If it's going to be running off a laptop, you have more flexibility than if you're trying to create a DVD video.

If using a laptop, IrfanView can create a standalone slideshow program with music. No fancy transitions, but very quick and easy with no image quality loss.

It's the conversion to DVD video format where you lose most of your quality...
