Sliders?

I guess these things must have some sort of a cult following. I can't see messing with something as good and sacred as cla good old regular burger. Then again, I do tend to be stuck in my ways a bit.

Thanks for the replies!

We live in an area that has always had White Castles so we knew what they mean. White Castle sliders are more steamed than fried which give them a unique taste. DD had the sliders at Chilies and was really disappointed. It was just a regular hamburger patty cut in 4 pieces and put on small buns. They didn't even try to hide the fact that is was a patty cut up!

Have a deep fried slider on me......

That actually looks good -like fry bread with a hamburger inside.

I always thought that 'sliders' referred to the way they were made.

I've learned to make 'slider-style' burgers, but I don't steam them, I cook them on my George Foreman.

Here's my recipe
1/2 onion cut into as small a dice as you can possibly make
2 lbs hamburger meat
1 pkg small potato-type rolls (Hawaii'n rolls work really well too, but they're a bit sweet for me)
Salt
pepper
Garlic pepper
Sheet pan (yes!)
Rolling pin
Tin foil OR plastic wrap

Mix the hamburger meat with the onions and seasonings. You can use a spoon or a fork, but I use my hands. When the meat and seasonings are well mixed, plop the mixture down on the sheet pan and flatten a bit. Cover with tinfoil OR plastic wrap and use the rolling pin to smush it down even further, rolling it till it fills the sheet pan in one thin layer. Use a knife or a pizza cutter to make it a semi-perfect rectangle and divide into squares.

Grill or fry or cook however you like. I usually use my George Foreman, because I use it FOR EVERYTHING. Just be warned that because the patties are so thin, they will cook a lot faster than a regular burger. Once the patties are fully cooked, slide into a split potato-type roll with ketchup or whatever you usually put on your burgers. Enjoy.

I think hot hoagies (or po-boy sandwiches) are called sliders Up Nawth;)
I'm assuming you mean grinder. I have never heard a hoagie/sub/po-boy referred to as a slider before.

I never heard of them until all of the chain restaurants started putting them on the menu. I think Chili's and Applebee's both have them now. DS liked them as a novelty I guess. He was impressed that he was served 4 burgers at once :confused3

Yes thats what they are called here too. They seem to be very popular lately. Fridays and Chilli's have slider commercials.

Bobby Flay just opened a Burger Palace here and he has lots of different sliders on the menu.

Those pretty little things are NOT sliders. They are just mini burgers.

These are the only official sliders

Gotta ask... is that a meal for one person? I see only one drink and one order of fries... :confused3

When I was growing up here in the Washington DC area there was a local chain that my Dad and I used to go to called "Little Tavern".......which was basically the same idea as White Castle.....steamed oniony mustard burgers on little buns sold by the bagful.....now there's only a couple places where their burgers are still sold....i miss them.

My boss was telling me once he stopped at midnight on the way home from work for a crave case of 30 hamburgers- he was eating some and bringing some home for his teenage kids- well byu the time he got home he realized that there were only 2 burgers left- he ate 28 burgers on the drive home!
