Sleeping Chair Questions

We are anxiously awaiting the 7 month mark for a possible May, 2018 trip to WDW. If we can pull it off it would be 8 of us -- all adults at this points (when did our kids get so old with our baby already 19?). King room is DS and I -- the 2nd bedroom will be the girls room -- 3 daughters + our son's girl friend. Living room is the boys room -- son and one daughter's boy friend.

Questions:
  • Which resorts have the sleeping chair available for the 2 bedroom unit?
  • Anyone with experience sleeping in one? I've sat in in fully opened while watching TV at HHI but not longer than a movie
  • Which resorts or "categories" (ie, dedicated or lock-off) have (2) regular Queen Beds in the 2nd bedroom? Thinking that would be best.
We're 2 weeks away from our 7 month window and realize plans could fall apart quickly if things get booked up -- just need some help with the above to our plan in place.

Thanks all.

BLT, AKV, OKW. VGF has a (larger) murphy bed in the living space of a 2BR. There's also the Poly Bungalows and the CCV cabins, of course.

Any dedicated 2BR will have that configuration. OKW lock-offs also have the 2 bed configuration in the second bedroom, since the studios there are 2 queens. Every resort has a dedicated 2BR save Poly and BWV; however, the other resorts don't have sleeper chairs in the living area.

AKV-Kidani will have the best bathroom setup for your group, IMO, and should be available for you. BLT, you sacrifice both some square footage and a bathroom. OKW are huge, but again, one fewer bathroom than at AKV-Kidani.

I think those are our top 3 picks for sure -- dang, not an easy decision though. AK - Jambo is our favorite -- Kidani, not as much unless we are renting a car. Stayed there before and literally were at the end -- about a .5 mile walk to the lobby. But should be available. OKW and the room size AND "bargain" for points.....hard to pass up + my wife likes the idea of boating to Disney Springs. BLT though might be the "kids" (from 19 - 27) favorite though. BUT I wasn't thinking about that bathroom configuration as much as the sleeping situation.....definitely something else for my wife and I to factor in. 4 girls sharing the one bath might not make for quick get aways in the morning :-) Thanks for your thoughtful reply

BLT 2 bedrooms have 3 bathrooms, tied for the most in Disney, and have the same square footage as Kidani 2 bedrooms - 1125 square feet.

Jambo 2BRs do not have the bonus bathroom of Kidani. All those people make an extra bathroom muy bien.

I think you are spot on and will share the feedback with my wife as we nail down our decision this week — trying balance borrowing less points and convenience — I’m definitely leaning toward BTL — IF, and that is a big IF, they still have availability at the 7 month window in about 11 days. Thanks so much.

Thanks so much — you are “twisting my arm” — I really wanted to try BLT but we’re trying to limit the number of points borrowed too but.....this is a VERY practical reason given our party size to splurge.

Thanks for your feedback. I was focused on the sleeping arrangements (aka, sleeping chair) and missed this important practical matter :-)

We stayed in an OKW 2BR in Aug and OKW 1BR earlier this month. The sleeper chair is more comfortable than the sleeper sofa according to DS20. I slept on the sleeper sofa this month and had to change to the sleeper chair which was much better.
Two votes for the chair.
I like the extra space at OKW.

Last trip to BLT I decided to "try" the sleeper chair the first night. I have back problems and I used it all week!

This is encouraging -- we are 90% sure we're going to try to BLT for our stay for the Wow factor. Kidani is 2nd but our entire family has stayed there once before (and really liked it). Countdown has begun....6 days to make final decision and then hope our first choice is still available. Thanks much.

We've stuck my son in the sleeper chair whenever he was with us and we had one. He like the one at OKW and BLT fine. He didn't like the one at AKV-KV as much. It may be because his bed at home improved between them. He's about 6'3" and didn't have a problem with the length of the bed.

HAHA -- our plan is to stick our 15 year old, 6'1" son in it.....he'll be fine :)

My daughter (who was 20 at the time and 5'9") slept on the sleeper chairs during our stay at both AKL Kidani and BLT and she thought they were great! My son used the sleeper sofa and he was fine with that as well.

Good luck! We have stayed in a BLT 2br dedicated lake view with 9 people (6 adults, 2 babies and a kid) and definitely appreciated the 3 bathrooms and also the laundry. FWIW we didn't notice any sacrifice in square footage but then again 4 of us live in an apartment in NYC.

The sleeper chairs are very comfortable, much more than the sleeper sofas in our experience. We've not heard any complaints from anyone who has stayed with us and used one.

I slept fine on the sleeper chairs for 10 nights between OKW and BLT. Not the most comfortable because the mattress is basically a 4 inch thick bit of foam, but I was pretty tired after a long day at Disney. The unpredictable air con was more of a problem- at OKW it was either freezing cold or too hot and I froze at BLT!!
