Hello everyone. We usually stay in a 1 bdrm villa. My daughter (17) and I take the master bedroom and my son and husband would sleep on the pull out couch. Now we have a problem. My son has now just turned 14 and did a major growth spurt. There is no way that the 2 of them can sleep on the pull out couch. I'm sure many of you have been through this already. We are staying at VWL in a 1 bdrm 12/19-12/26. Any suggestions?? Will they give us a cot if we ask for one? Should I bring one of those blow up mattres's? Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

How about the females sleep on the pull out and the males in the master bedroom?

I thought about that but I selfishly don't want to give up the Master bedroom!
This time around my DH and I want to have the big bed to ourselves and have one of the kids sleep on the pullout and maybe a cot or air mattress for the other one.

DVC resorts do not provide cots. You can bring an aero bed and sheets, though. :)

DVC will not supply a cot or any other sleeping area. You will need to provide an air mattress or sleeping bag. They also wil not supply additional sheets or other bed linens.

For future trips, if you want to stay in one bedrooms, I would recommend AKV (except value units) or BLT, as they have an additional twin sized sleeper chair in the living room.

Looks like it will be the air mattres for this upcoming trip! Thanks for the tip about the linens too. I haven't been to AKV or BLT yet but it's nice to know that the single chair bed is an option in those resorts.

Unless who ever is sleeping on the couch is willing to share, you might need a pillow as well.

I hear the chair in the living room pulls out to a single bed. This is fairly new.
I am counting on this in May for our sleeping arrangements.
Let us know how you make out.:thumbsup2

This is currently only at AKV (non-value rooms), BLT and Vero.

Looks like it's time for a 2 bedroom! :goodvibes

Once our two kids got to the mid teens we booked only 2 bedrooms when traveling with them. The extra bathroom is a plus also. That plus I get to make my coffee early in the morning without disturbing them.

We're a family of four (1 male/3 females)... We bought points at BCV thinking one bedroom (when the girls were younger) but since, we've added points and have gotten 2bdrms. However, we will be going over Christmas week this time (first time) and we plan to bring a single air mattress and let the girls (now 19 and 15) argue who gets what. It's not like we're breaking any occupancy rules, and they'll just be more comfortable...
Now the bathroom situation is a WHOLE other story! Really wishing for that extra bath that's now being put in the new resorts.. solves alot of problems!!!

Ye whose names are on the check that pays/paid for the contract sleep in the master bedroom. All other royal subjects can duke it out for pull out beds and air mattresses. :thumbsup2

do the cushions come off the couch or is it the type that they are attached? when my kids were younger and before the new pull out sofa, at BWV the cushions came off the couch. I'd bring and put a sheet over the cushions, lined up on the floor with a pillow. there should be an extra blanket in the closet by the master bedroom if memory serves. or you can call housekeeping and tell them the kids need a second blanket for whatever reason....one pulls the covers off the other...whatever and use that too.

it worked out fine for us when they were 14. now at 20, (twins), we go with a 2 bedroom and that's been working so good, we can bring their friends too! one boy on the pullout sofa in the living room, the girls in one bed, the other boy in the other bed/pull out sofa. It's no different than when they all pile into a dorm room :goodvibes except they're in DISNEY!

HAVE A GREAT TRIP!

I just hate spending the points for a 2 bedroom. The one bedroom was usually fine for us and still would be if my son was still little but at age 14 he's getting bigger and bigger every day it seems! We did buy a single aerobed to bring with us. My DD and I are night owls and like to sleep in. My DH and DS are early risers. My daughter and I will still probably take the Bedroom, my son will have the couch (he loves the couch!) and hubby tried the aerobed and said it was really comfortable so he'll sleep on that. Sadly this will probably be the last vacation, just the 4 of us, for a while. My daughter will be going to college in September and most likely won't want to spend her Spring Break in Disney with her parents! We do have a big family trip coming up in July though. I booked at Grand Villa at HH. So excited! I always wanted to stay in a grand villa! My parents will have the master bedroom, my Brother and SIL, Niece and Nephew will be in one bedroom, me and my DH and kids in the other.

Ditto! Our kids when they were teenagers (and even into their 20s) didn't mind sleeping on the floor at all, and we never used an air mattress. They were just happy to be at Disney (and they did it even when they weren't at Disney)! Guess it helps that they were raised doing tent camping for most of our previous family vacations! No matter which DVC resort you try, the floor has to be softer than rocks and twigs!:rotfl2:

yup - it would be a cold day you know where when myself and dh werent in the master! my kids are 17 (dd) and 9 (ds). They have a few options, sleep together on the foldout or duke it out to see who gets what. If we are in a hotel, they share a bed. But most trips more than 5 nights, I always get a 2 bedroom.

When we were kids, siblings, cousins, etc. just piled in where we could. Four kids in a double!! We were just all happy to be away.

With Disney EMH, some of the parks open at 8am and close at 2am, you could sleep in shifts! :lmao:

Just kidding, it's been a 2 br for us since the beginning, I know it's vacation but after a day at the parks, we all need sleep to face the next day and I like everyone to be comfortable. Sometimes we even have to bring the blow up if there is one additonal friend!
