My family is headed on our first Disney Cruise (or first cruise evere actually! We'll be on The Magic) this fall. Four of us (me, my husband, 7 year old and 5 year old) are booked in a room with a navigator's verandah, but instead of booking a 2nd room, we booked my 9 year old in our friends' room.

The Disney booking agent said he could sleep in with us which I was glad to hear because I didn't want to feel like we were sneaking around or breaking rules.

I'm wondering if any of you have slept a fifth person in your cabin with beds for 4?

Should I bring a mat or air mattress? (Is there even room for that?)
Ask for some extra blankets and let one of them make a little nest on the floor?
Put two boys in one of the bunk beds?

Thanks for helping me brain storm!

Not sure about how the best place for him to sleep in the room would be. I would think sharing a bed might be the most comfy, your 5 yr old could also sleep in the queen with you and your dh, giving the other 2 kids the bunks. I wanted to mention, in case your booking agent didn't tell you, but your son will have to go with your friends to their muster drill location since he is booked in their room. Also they will have to sign a form giving you permission to take him off the ship at the different ports that you go to, again must be done because he is booked in their room. Also your friends will have to give you permission to check your son in and out of the kids clubs. They will fill out the forms to do these things when your on-line check in window opens, 75 days before your cruise for first timers.

Is there any chance there is a 5th bed in your room? That it's a cat 4 with the extra murphy bed?

Heaven only knows the little guy ends up in our king sized more often than not at home...

My friend has started some of that permission stuff online. Thank you for the info!

My nephew wanted to sleep in our room one night and he slept tops and tails in the lower bunk with my son. That could work with your 5 and 7 year old. The 9 year old is probably a little too long for the to be comfortable.

There really isn’t a ton of floor space so I wouldn’t do an air mattress but you can ask your stateroom host for extra pillows.

I can't imagine having my kid sleep on the floor for a week with just pillows and a blanket. There isn't really much room in the cabin and once all of the beds are in place there is just room to walk to the bathroom or out the door in an emergency. Maybe the two younger kids can double up on the lower bunk. Or maybe remove the vanity stool and the coffee table and put an air mattress partly under the desk?

We have a GTY 05C. Maybe we'll have some pixie dust sprinkled our way by way of an upgrade!

I'm a little confused. The Navigator's verandah rooms are category 7A and most only sleep 3. The 5C category rooms are regular verandah rooms and lots of them sleep 4. So I'm going to assume you have a regular verandah, not a Navigator's verandah room.

This is what I was thinking would be best. Put the 9 year old in the pull down bunk. Then have the 7 and 5 year olds sleep on the sofa bed with their heads at opposite ends.

I'm really surprised they didn't suggest the cabins that actually sleep 5 because to sleep five in a space designed for 4 is going to be tight. We are on the Magic in two weeks and are sleeping five, two in the bed, one on the couch bed, one on the bunkbed and one on the Murphy...........

You may want to request that your trunk/coffee table be removed from your room at the beginning of your cruise to provide the floor space needed for sleeping. I think with that removed you'd have space on the floor - and yes, agree, my sons (when they were young) wouldn't have minded sleeping on the floor at all...

Thanks so much for the response. This is exactly what I was looking for. Someone who'd been there, done that!

That's a good idea. Thank you for the suggestion!

The cabins with the murphy beds cost much more than the deal we got on our room. That's why we're hoping to make this work! Two weeks 'til your cruise! How awesome. Have fun!

You can always take the top bunk mattress off and put that on the floor for your littlest two to sleep on, that way if one rolls around more it wouldn’t be a big deal.
Have a fun time!
