We're about ready to purchase a new mattress - anyone own a Sleep Number Bed? What are your likes/dislikes of it?

We've had one for about three years. I don't think we have any complaints, and I we like being able to adjust both sides of the bed for maximum comfort. :)

My parents have one! They've had it for about a year now and they're finally able to both sleep through the night together again. They love being able to adjust their own sides of the bed. It's pleasant to be around my well-rested parents again! :goodvibes

We switched to the Sleep Number bed from a waterbed and really regretted it. It's just not as comfortable. (Regular mattresses would be much worse, of course.) We ended up buying a massively thick feather bed, and sticking it inside the Sleep Number mattress, right above the air bags, and below the mattress ticking, replacing their 1" thick eggcrate foam insert. (Otherwise, it would get this well in it where we sleep, and wouldn't be doing any good.)

Both my sister and I purchased new sleep number beds a little over two years ago. Both of them have developed a dip in the middle. There is a piece of foam that runs between the two air bladders on either side of the bed. The foam gets beat down and causes a dip. Since we both sleep alone, it isn't a problem that we roll to the middle of our beds. I would think it would be a problem for a couple.

I have a Sleep Number pillow top and LOVE it! If my back hurts, I firm it up. If my hips hurt, I lower it so it's softer. My mother laid on it and said it's like being in the womb. :thumbsup2 If I want to sit in bed and read, I firm it up.

DH calls my side of the bed "The Crater" because he likes his really firm and I prefer mine soft unless my back is bugging me.

The best part is that my limbs no longer fall asleep. I'm a side sleeper and my arms would alway fall asleep. No more!

I've had it for 4 years and wonder how I ever slept without it. :goodvibes

DH and I have had ours for just over 3 years. We have the kind with two seperate air chambers. He loves it. I hate it. He likes his side to be slightly softer than a brick and I prefer mine to be...well...you know, comfortable. Given our different firmness preferences, there's always a cliff in the middle of the bed. It's a pain. I have never had such a tough time getting used to a bed and sleeping- and I still have trouble sleeping all the way through the night a lot of times. The only positive that I can see is that it allows us to sleep in the same bed. Other than that, I really don't like it.

We've had ours for about 6 years and LOVE it. It's great to be able to adjust each side separately. One of us can get out of the bed without the whole thing moving and waking the other!

This is what we need. I always go to bed much later than DFi.

We're going to give this mattress a tryout at a local Radisson that has them. We wanted to try out a Tempur-Pedic too, but the hotels that have them around here are $500 a night.

We so love ours had it for about a year now.

I pump it up to 100 every other day or so .

I sit in my bed most of the time when I'm home it's my Batcave .

I kepp it at 40 when sitting and 15 to sleep.

DW puts hers from 50 to 30 depending on how she feels that night.

I think the center peices are a bit better then before and asked about them before we bought ( DIS research) and was told if it sags to call and they will ship a new one.

I've never slept on a Tempurpedic, but I remember reading that they can get very hot throughout the course of the night, thanks to the foam. Just something else to consider. :thumbsup2

just an FYI ~ it took me a few weeks to get used to it so one night might not be enough to test it out. I have a freind that has a sleep number bed and highly recommended it so DH and I went out and bought one. I hated it the first couple of weeks and was really afraid I was going to have to send it back. After a while I was able to find the right number and now I love it! I have a lot of back problems and I love how I can adjust the bed according to how I'm feeling that day.

We've had one for about 5 years now... two different bed sizes two (my hubby kicks, so we got a larger mattress). We gave the old one to my dad and he keeps telling me how much better he sleeps now and loves it.

I personally love ours. We do not agree on the level of softness and with back/neck problems this has been a godsend for me. My DH will never consider using another mattress.

Having a pillowtop is a must though. Otherwise you can feel the divider (IMO). And if you don't put it in right, it can create a dip in the center. But we have ours on two totally different levels and I cannot feel it at all.

Very happy with ours and I hate sleeping away from home. Nothing compares to this one for me.
