First off, thank you for reading this and answering because I am sure that it has been asked many times before. I just couldn’t find it. So here it goes…

We are often crazy on vacation. We like to sleep in for a bit, have breakfast in the room and then head to the pool. This may lead to lunch at the pool or at the park. in past years we would choose FP+ times after say 1:00 and stay until the evening. Is it still possible to choose a Genie + return for later in the day? Or am I stuck with whatever time it spits out? Is there any way of “customizing“ a timeframe?

Thank you (!!!) for your help.

optimally you still might want to check genie+ at 7am and make your first reservation, ideally for a high demand ride, as return times for these rides can quickly get into the afternoon. for example, you're definitely gonna want to do this at DHS for slinky dog. you may have to keep an eye on this for a bit to get an ideal return time out past when you think you'll be at the park.

after 2 hours pass (or 2 hours after park opening? i forget) you can make another genie+ reservation even while holding the first. you may want to make this for second tier ride. in another 2 hours, you can make a third - and by this time, you can walk in holding 2-3 reservations, and every time you tap into your last ride, you can immediately make a new reservation. (this works best at MK where there are a lot of moderate waits to skip, and maybe not as well at the other parks that have fewer but higher demand attractions.)

What park do you want? that might work at MK, but at Epcot you are probably going to get maybe one ride out of it (the one you get up at 7 am to book).

If you don’t make your first G+ selection at 7 am you are going to be closed out of headliners. If you don’t make your first G+ selection at least before park open then you are going to be able to stack fewer then if you made your first between 7 am and park opening. This is done to improve your guest experience.

yeah, stacking is probably less helpful at epcot than MK or DHS. if i was going to epcot late i might just keep an eye on standby times and skip genie+ altogether if park not so busy.

I would suggest if you want to do this, make a park reservation for a park you're not going to. So you can start 2 o clock stacking first thing, then 4 hours(ish) later you do another one, then 2 hours later another. The rub with this strategy is you will have to scan into the park you had the reservation for before hopping to the park you're stacking for. Although that's not too bad if you are staying in a resort close to a park.

As long as it’s not a busy time you could just make your reservation at a park you do NOT want to start with. Then book G+ at your desired park and it will automatically push it out to 2pm. Once you see the G+ times go out past the time you want to book you can just modify your park reservation. Won’t work on days where parks sell out (or at least be inconvenient if the park fills up) and perhaps it won’t even let you if you don’t have a park hopping pass? Not sure if the system would block you or just allow you to book. However for most days that will work, if you can book G+ at a different park anyway..

Edit: just noticed Dis Dragon basically said the same thing minus the park reservation modification, but I will just leave the post anyway.

Haven't been there when the park reservations weren't fully booked so completely missed the park res modification.

Thanks everyone. So I guess my worry was real. I can’t sleep In and make a genie plus for me for afternoon/evening visits. So what happens if I do get up at 7 and it gives me a return time before I was planning on getting to the park? Can I change it for after lunch? lets say this was for a MK day.

I have nothing helpful to add but just wanted to say we are the same way. We go often and enjoy taking it easy on vacation and getting to the parks in the afternoon. This ruins the whole way we vacation. I hope somebody offers a good solution. I will be watching this thread for advice for our Feb trip. Thanks for posting.

You can't modify Genie+ reservations, you get what you get that's the next in the time slot.

The hopping strategy works because the next available is at 2pm - when hopping becomes available.

If you get up at 7am for the park res you have, guaranteed it will be before you want it, unless you're looking at SDD - because that goes for the day in like 5 minutes.

We really only need someone to test and confirm if it is possible to book G+ for an alternate park without having park hoppers. Doesn’t require anything special just someone going in when they have time and trying to book a different park and see what it says. Of that works then it is a simple solution. The beauty is that if it is a busy sold out day then a popular ride like jungle cruise or Peter Pan etc would probably have 1pm pretty quickly-making it unnecessary to worry-and if it’s not a sold out day you could just modify your park reservation after making a couple LL. So if anyone has regular tickets without park hopping to confirm yea or nay, we could have some certainty. My sister will be going in a couple weeks for one day if no one finds out by then and she does g+ I’ll find out.

I think you would be okay at Magic Kingdom not getting up at 7 am. We are here now, and when looking for early evening times (say, around 5:30 or 6:00), it's taken until 9:00 am or later for just about any ride to approach that. This has been over the last few days. Right now, Jungle Cruise has a return time of 5:15 but the next latest time is 1:00 pm (for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad). And it is supposed to be a crowd size 10 today at MK.

I think I would try to book the first one as soon as you get up, preferably before 2 hours after park open (when those who are stacking can make their next selection). And I would buy Genie Plus after midnight the night before (if you're up) to get it out of the way. Good luck!

my experience without hoppers in november is that i could only book attractions at the park i had a reservation at. i didn't go out of my to try other parks though.

Shout! This is a real bummer that there is are no modifications. A REAL BUMMER! 😢

I appreciate it but without specifically trying we wouldn’t know, since it only shows one park at a time and someone would have to go up to the top, change parks and then try to book one.
