What happened to the Skyway to tomorrowland? When did it close? :confused3

I remember being on it one time with DH and a big thunderstorm was bearing down on us while we were stopped up in the air and thinking that it was probably NOT the best time to ride - especially when the winds started! Yikes! :rotfl:

I also miss this ride as do lots of people. I have some picture from when I was a kid of us riding in it.

I liked the one at Disneyland- it went right through the Matterhorn. You could look down and see the Yeti. Too bad they didn't do something like that at AK with EE!

We got stuck on that thing when I was 11 years old and I never got back on it again. I remember sitting on the floor of the gondola crying my eyes out thinking I was going to have to go down a huge ladder. They were finally able to reel us back in. It might have only been 5 minutes but I thought it was an eternity. (By the way, this was the year the park opened, not to date myself or anything. :) )

This was my favorite ride in the entire park suprisingly since I am afraid of heights. Very dissappointed that it closed. You can get awesome pictures from there.

It was so cool to be on the Matterhorn bobsleds when one of the sky cars went through.

Something would have had to go very wrong for them to have had to do that.

i miss it too!!! it gave such a great perspective of tommorowland and fantasyland. :sad2:

It was ok, never liked the fact that kids would get on it and spit on the people below! My wife was taking my 2yr old son on Dumbo and a wad of spit landed right next to them :furious: so I followed the car and when two kids got out they started to blame each other and then started to beat each other up! I just walked away laughing never did say anything to them figured what they did to each other was good enough. :rotfl2:

I too loved taking pictures from the Skyway. I didn't know about the employee that fell to his death. Very sad. Thanks to all who replied.
