Skype and CyberLink YouCam Questions

Hi, I sure am hoping there is a computer savy person out there that can help me. I was trying to talk to a friend via Skype and kept getting cut off and/or our conversation would freeze. I think it was due to a program called CyberLink that is on my computer because it kept popping up. I am wondering if this is a program needed to run my computer video camera or if I can simply remove the program. Can anyone shed some light??
