Skyauction Sheraton Vistana Questions

Just received our exchange confirmation for an auction we won. Our trip is not scheduled until June 06 but I have a couple of questions for the Vistana veterans.

Our exchange specifies a specific unit on the documention (0450). Will this prevent us from being able to request and prevent us from getting the section that we desire (Lakes)? Also does anyone know what section that 0450 is in?

I know our trip is sometime away but when should we fill out and submit the Diamond Lane documentation? Any info at all on the Vistana would be much appreciated since this be our first time. We are very excited!

That number isn't a specific unit. I thought that at first also. It is just a number assigned (I think by RCI) to Vistana. Every Vistana auction has that number on it. Both of mine have had that exact number. It has nothing to do with what condo you are assigned. :)

Mine says Unit #1820. I also thought that was our condo number!
Oh well, I did send a request through Diamond Lane anyway.

0450 is technically in the Spas section, but I agree with Pamela in that I believe Skyauction operates the same way as say RCI. I believe that number is for bookkeeping/reservations only ? I haven't specifically used skyauction before but I know Vistana reserves the right to place you in whatever villa they see fit.
To the OP, you should fill out the Diamond Lane perhaps a week to a few months ahead of your trip. I stayed at Vistana the first week of August this year and filled out my DL form in early July. You can definitely request Lakes if that is what you want. This is my favorite section as well.

Thanks for your answers to my questions. I'll be on the lookout for anymore Vistana info before our trip.

We won a week for the Vistana Resort on Skyauction and had a great trip. Usually, the auction will state the number of people that the unit will accomodate. Does yours state 8 people? The Lakes is for 8. If the auction states sleeps 6, it will be in an older unit. We used Diamond Lane - however, I also have a Sheraton Frequent Member card. It's free - and every little bit helps!

Yes my confirmation does state 2 bedroom for 8 people. I hope this helps us get the Lakes

Kevin, I wonder if yours really is your condo number because you are using your friends' week, right? I don't know a lot about timeshares, but when you win thru Skyauction you can be put anywhere. If you are exchanging thru a friend who "owns" at, say, Fountains, isn't that where they will put you? At least I thought so.

:confused3

Maybe we'll see you there........I think we check in on the same day. :)

Vistana Resort is Resort #0450, to RCI.
So, if Skyauction goes through RCi (which it sounds like they do), then they're just using Vistana's Resort number.

RCI assigns Resort ID's to all their timeshare properties. 0450 happens to be Sheraton's Vistana.

when you check in you will assigned a unit.

not before. Or that is what the front desk told us.

skyauction gets their timeshares from RCI (excess inventory - yea right....)

I got Springs - it sleep 8 also.

I think the newer ones only sleep 6.

the older units are definitely bigger than the newer ones.

we loves Springs - 6 feet to the door. It was pretty nice.

the livingroom and dinning room seemed much bigger than the new one.

the master bedroom and bath were gigantic.

To clarify, the newer ones do sleep 8. I own in the Fountains and have also stayed in the Lakes a couple times---they sleep 8. I toured the Cascades---all the 2 bedrooms sleep 8. The older Falls sleeps 6----the beds in the 2nd bedroom are only twin size. I believe (not 100% sure), that some of the Courts only sleep 6. I know there are larger townhouse sized villas at the Courts that can sleep 10.

This is really great info guys. I (and I'm sure others) really appreciate the info all of you have provided. Thanks and any other insight would also be appreciated.

I was also really thinking that when we had a unit in Springs that there were twin beds in the 21nd bedroom. Don't recall for sure as we had one DS in a crib in that room and one DS in a crib in ours and DD on the couch. No one actually used the beds but I remember being surprised that they were different from Fountains. We liked Springs a lot. Very quiet and the unit was in great condition. Liked it better than Cascades.

Maria you have told me that before.... :rolleyes1

sorry!!!

the newer ones just look smaller than the Springs. :goodvibes

I think our 2nd bedroom had the full (double) size beds. They weren't queens but were bigger than twins.

Our original plan with our friends fell through (long story), but I ended up winning a week (sleeps 8) through Skyauction (11/26-12/03). When I got the confirmation it indicated Unit #1820. I thought that was the room number.

Just 10 minutes ago I received a call from Vistana confirming my reservation for Saturday. She asked if I had any special requests and I told her Lakes or Cascades section (I had already sent one through Diamond Lane). She told me that with RCI you never know what section you will get, but she would check availability.

After being on hold for a minute she came back and told me that Lakes would be available and put us in that section! She also said that Diamond Lane closes at 6:30 PM, but since we are not arriving until 7:00 or so that we shouldn't have a problem waiting to check in.

I was extremely surprised, as I have been reading every thread about this place and never knew the resort would call me ahead of time.

If it wasn't for MiaSRN62 I would never have known what section to request.

Thank You Thank You!!

Hi! I am completing the Diamond Lane checkin form (thanks for the tip and info) for our trip coming up the end of April. I am requesting our 2 bedroom be in the Cascade or Lake area as it seems, if I've read right, those are pretty decent areas to get. In looking at their website, I see their are, in both area, 2 bedroom and 2 bedroom lockoff rooms. I have two young-ish (6 & 8) boys that will be in the second bedroom and thought I want privacy in the living room when their are in bed, I don't want them being too far away or access to their own exit/kitchen etc - do I need to be concerned about this with the "lockout" ones (I'm not real familiar with how these are set up).
Is there any other reason to request specifically a not-lockout 2bedroom or a lockout 2 bedroom?

thanks for any tips!!
Amanda

Kevin.....glad to help !

Amanda,
As for the lockouts. You will most likely get the dedicated 2 bedroom villa as they rent most of the lockouts as 1 bedrooms. Really, all it is, is a door in between which you can keep open. It's been a few years since I've toured one of the lockouts, but I recall the doors being in the foyer/kitchen area---not the bedroom. I'd be very suprised if you got a lockout villa but I don't believe it's cause for concern if you happen to.

Have fun ~ We stayed at the Vistana this past October and really, really liked it! We were in the Spas, which aren't the oldest, or newest. Our condo was HUGE and we loved our screened in porch. The decor in the condo wasn't our style, but that didn't matter to us at all. We had a great time! And the trip to the parks each day was so quick.

quick tip : If you have cell phones with you for family to call, UNPLUG ALL THE CONDO PHONES! The sales people will call. We had automated messages on our voice mail several times a day.

ENJOY !

I stayed in the Spas one time in late '99. I agree about the decor. Back then, it was straight out of the '80's. I was hoping they had remodeled that section.

Great tip ! I know we'll be doing this for our next stay. The sales team can be extremely annoying. We had 4-6 calls ourselves during our week stay this past August.
