Hello :)
we are booked at HIFS for $76 a night + tax,

I read about skyauctions so have been checking them out for our stay, there will be 3 adults and 3 kiddos, Sep 25- Oct 2nd.

this is whats available for our dates, do you recommend any??

Club Sevilla
High Point World Resort
Lago Vista at Buenaventura Lakes
Orbit One Vacation Villas
Westgate Vacation Villas
Bryan's Spanish Cove
Leisure Resorts Orlando

the Westgate Vacation Villas &
Lago Vista at Buenaventura Lakes, look really good. :)

but this is our first trip so I have NO idea, I do know DH would love to get some fishing in :teeth:
any of the above offer that?

now on to the auction, do I pick the room BEFORE I bid?
or do you bid, then send which you prefer?

also, the security deposits, I notice some are as high as $200, do you get these back? what are they for?

to make sure you dont leave dirty dishes etc.?? LOL
do we have to do the laundry before we leave?
I know, LOTS of questions! :teeth:

do not know anything about the resorts you have posted, so no help there....although we have toured westgate, a tour does not give a good impression since they are trying to show their best to get you to buy

they do have lakes at Westgate but do not know if they offer fishing ( just trying to remember now if we saw some people fishing in one of them when we took the tour but not sure )

you can pick the room first if you really want it...to make sure it is there for you when the auction is finished and you have won

with the time line you are talking about, would say put a "hold" on what you want to ensure it is there.....

the security deposit is usually a "credit card imprint" and would say this is a "just in case" issue

each resort handles check out differently, but you should not have to do laundry but they may ask you to put the bedding all in one place and they may ask you to put the dish washer on

no problems with questions, hope someone who have been at those resorts can help you also....

one final thing, since your dates are really close, you might want to see if they have "last minute auctions" for your dates...they usually go "reasonable" too.....

*****UPdate***

alas after having just checked the last minute auctions there is only ONE for your dates....so RSG would be your best bet

****************

RSG are nice auctions if you are planning something but not sure where you are going or when...we sometimes have a RSG in the "bank" so to speak, but usually when we do them, we put a hold on the "property" we think we would like to go to

do not be afraid to ask questions

thanks so much for the help :)

the reason I asked about the deposit, was because I have tried to keep everything pd for since we are on a VERY limited budget.

I have a credit card that I leave at $500 limit, was afraid if I put the room on it, then when we checked in, and they tried to put a $200 deposit on it, it would be denied :o LOL

I was planning on bidding on the 11:00 ending auctions, but will hold off to see if I get some reviews of the resorts :)

want to make sure its worth cancelling the HIFS, I will assume they dont compare! :teeth: but want to make sure :)

Thanks again for all your help!!

3boysmommy, I'm not sure if you are talking about the $195 that skyauction requests, but if you are, that is a charge, not a deposit. You will NOT get that back! Plus you pay a $15 service charge, so before your actual bid, you will pay $210 plus whatever your bid is.

Right now they have a ReadySetGo at $16 with 5 hours to go. What you want to do is request your room first (they have a 2br with full kitchen available right now at Westgate and they do have fishing onsite!). You have 24 hours to win a bid before you lose that request. I have bid on these before and haven't paid over $50 yet plus the $210. Not too shabby for a 2br!!

Here's the link to the one I'm talking about:

3boysmommy

do a search on Westgate on disboards ( think there have been reviews here )

also you could check trip advisor

glad POLLY ANN could confirm the fishing ( when we toured, thought we saw some people fishing off a dock but was not sure )

something else to note ( unless you are the one who won the 37$ auction with hande 3dbup last night at 11 pm ...smilawgs if you did ) the RSG auctions usually go for around 50$ and sometimes they add other weeks when it reaches this level ( the first 11 pm auction last night went for 52/52/52/51 )

would not go much higher than 53 or so unless you really want it then go higher

hope this all works out for you...

POLLY ANN- thanks :)
I understood the auction part, its the security deposit at the resort that I'm talking about :)

we usually stay at hotels/motels, and have never pd a security deposit at arrival.

lawgs- when I bid, I figured I might need to bid up to $51.00.

when I checked today there are 17 resorts! yesterday there were only 10 in our time frame, I just dont know which place to pick!! LOL :teeth:

If Cypress Pointe Grand-VIllas is a choice for you...Take it.

We have also used Skyauction for a stay at Vacation Village Parkway...Close to the parks, lots of space and nice place but refuse to do the tour no matter what they offer. It's a really hard sell.

Silver Lake also has great reviews here...

What are you dates...I can look up an rsg auction and give you some ideas...::yes::

yes they are constantly adding to inventory it seems.....

yesterday they did not have the resort we wanted for our "rescheduled" stay in december, today it appeared...so hopefully we will get it

Vacation Village is not a bad place to stay, but resort has a smaller footprint ( highrises not sprawling like Westgate ) but their date for 2 bedrooms is 24th

the dates are in the OP

There is a 2 BR available at Villas of Summer Bay for 9/26. You could get a hotel for one night. It's a little further away down 192, but it's supposed to be nice.

Of the ones you listed, I've only heard about Orbit One and Westgate. I'd pick Orbit One of those two, hands down. That particular Westgate gets more bad than good reviews.

Edit: now if you don't mind finding a hotel for your last day, there is a 2 BR at Silver Lake availabile 9/24. You can check in on the 25th if you just notify SL. I stayed there in May and liked it. it's small but nice. Definitely worth what you'd pay for a RSG (that how I stayed there, too).

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood your question about security deposits. We stayed in a resort in Williamsburg through skyauction and I believe I just had to give them a credit card for incidentals (phone calls, etc.).

Good luck with your choices and let us know how it turns out for you! :)

I just had to check availability out of curiousity and here is what I came up with. These are all for 2BR:

Lago Vista (closer to airport than Disney), Club Sevilla, Orbit One, High Point, and Westgate all have a check in of 9/25.

Grand Lake and Villas at Summer Bay have a check in of 9/26.

Those are the only resorts at this time that show availability for a 2br.

Good luck! ;)

you guys are great ::yes::

PhotobearSam- dont see Cypress point-
we are arriving Sept 25th and leaving Oct 2nd

I echo the replies about flexibility...by looking at the night before or after check-in, you might get a larger number of choices. The resort will let you check in a day late, or you could get an inexpensive hotel for the last night...you should still come out ok on your budget, I think.

good luck and happy "shopping"!

we are on a tight schedule so HAVE to check in on the 25th, and since we will only be there for a week, I prefer not to pack up 3 boys junk to move to another resort. LOL

so of these listed, which would you suggest :teeth:

I know it's so hard to make a decision based on pictures on the internet. However, Westgate has gotten some pretty mixed reviews and it sounds like the resort is HUGE! Here's a link: http://hotel.undercovertourist.com/united-states/fl/orlando/v_2/westgate-vacation-villas.html
Looks like there is a king in the MBR, 2 queens in the 2nd and a pull out couch.

Here is a website I found for Orbit One: http://hotel.undercovertourist.com/united-states/fl/orlando/v_2/orbit-one-vacation-villas.html
It looks like the 2br only have a MBR and the second room shows only twin beds. Not sure if the couch has a pull-out.

If I had to choose, I would take a chance at Westgate based on the people you have to accomodate. But, that's my opinion.

Good luck!

looks like Orlando International auction is over and there were no takers but if you had planned on doing Disney, it would have been a fair drive each day ( it looks like it is up near Belz Outlet )

Westgate is located near Sherbeth Road ( goes past Silver Lake Resort ) and is a back entrance into Disney thus traffic congestion should not be a problem as you would only be on 192 for a short span

all depends upon your plans but it seems you are concentrating on Disney so being closer would translate into more vacation time less travel time

OK, I'm taking the plunge :teeth:

have Westgate on request and will bid tonight :hyper:
if it goes over $51-$52, will bid tomorrow.

Thanks so much for the help!
Yes, this is our first trip to Florida and we are focusing on DisneyWorld.

we only have a week so wont get much else done, but everyone is excited :bounce:

Good luck on the bid! Hope you pay $2! lol
