SkyAuction question

I've looked at the SkyAuction site, and it's tempting. I've got a question though.

It lists the various properties, and the dates they are available. It also says that the availability can change. What if I bid wanting a certain date? After I bid (and win), can they tell me that it is no longer available? If so, what about my money? How do they handle this?

Thanks!

if you only want one place or one date. and only one place is availability for that date. Don't bid.

look for the real bids - where they list the condo and the dates available. - if it is only one date (last minute ones) - then hey go for it.

but what skyauction does lots of time is have the same bid listed several times - the first person who wins gets to pick their dates. So there is a chance that your dates are gone to a person who won the bid last week.

they change the dates often - but I think once a bid is started they don't change it.

if you know you can only go at a certain date - then I might not go with skyauction - okay I would but I would have a back up reservations if I didn't get exactly what I wanted with skyauction.

the old policy was if you weren't happy and they couldn't do anything to make you happy - they would return your money. the new policy is that you knew what you were bidding for and sorry if you don't like it.

however most of the time more than one resort is offered for those times.

That's what I needed to know.

I've noticed that Cypress Pointe is coming up some (not for the dates I need yet though) and was interested in that. I was also considering Vacation Village based on some of what I've read on these boards.

So, basically, what you're saying is that they can give you any of the properties listed unless the auction is for a specific property only and that the date you want might no longer be available.

I wouldn't mind taking a chance for myself, but another family will also be going, and I was hoping to get both of us a great deal (hopefully, in the same property but that wasn't mandatory).

I may hold off with SkyAuction until the next time we go by ourselves.

Thanks for the help!

you have got it.

you can call them before you bid and see if those dates are still availability at the resort you want. (if they will say)

but unless you are bidding in the last few minutes and got your answer right before - there are no guaranteeds.

really? I have always held the property I want before I bid(talking ready set go)
there is a place right in the auction where you can hold it

It says you can hold them up to 24hrs. I think they gave me a problem once, but when I emailed them, they found me a unit

The RSG auctions are the only ones that you can "hold" a place, the others you cannot

just for the record....and not bashing skyauction....

but, you could win an auction for a specific resort and they can still get out of it with their "subject to availabilty" clause...

we won an auction for a two bedroom at VVP for the end of march....after two days of asking for the "confirmation", we were emailed and told that this property was NOT available and they gave us some other options

this was not an auction for ourselves but was for our nephew and his family

the resort they ended up at was just across the street from the ocala plaza ( bealls store ) in kississimee....it did turn out ok since they do not know the difference in time shares as we do .....that is why we were bidding and won the auction for him at VVat P

they said they had a lot of activiities for the kids and the accomodations were fine for their disney visit

so winning a particular bid does not always mean you will get it.....not that something like this would happen on a regular basis....a lot would depend on time/season of the year...skyauction did offer up several alternatives but we had to look at the reviews before we picked one we thought they would enjoy ( we already knew that VV at P was a good choice since we had stayed there )
