Hi, I know this has been addressed before but I still am confused & need some help on it. I won one of the SkyAuction Home away from Home deals today. I have used SkyAuction many times but never on one of these deals. I got my email saying that I have won etc.. saying that they will not bill my credit card until I rec' my confirmation on my dates & resort etc. What confused me more was when I went into the my vacation site, I had to give my info & it said it was going to bill my credit card as soon as I hit next. I hit the next & a short time later I rec' an email:

Congratulations on winning discount coupons from SkyAuction.
You may use the following code towards future purchases on SkyAuction travel: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

In the event there are other components to complete your auction, we will be mailing them seperately.

OK.. question #1... is that code for to use when I bid on something else, meaning that is my $100 certificate?
......question #2.... are the other components my 7 day resort stay certificate?

That is all I have heard from them. I have no clue what happens next. I went into the getaway weeks site & the Parkways (which is what I planned on getting) is now not there for the dates I need. When I bid on this it was. How does this auction work? I know on the others, if my dates are no longer available, they do not charge your credit card & you basically forfit your win. Which has happened to me before. I also won something that was no longer there but they gave me a better one. What happens with this type of auction? I know they are fairly new... Can anyone help me on this :confused3
By the way, I won it for $220 total with their $20 fee. That is a good deal for a $100 Skyauction credit & 7 night resort stay.. if I am getting that stay :confused3

I'm sure others who have won will answer these questions, but I think since you've already won an auction that it might also be a good idea for you just to give them a call (I think it's 800-929-9929) and ask Skyauction your questions directly. They've always been very helpful and knowledgeable whenever I've called.

Thanks... I did email them about 3:30 & haven't heard anything from them except that auto response that I am placed in que for a rep to respond back to me....??

I know the feeling well....

I won one in Oct - it was just in the last two weeks of March that I found what I wanted....for this May....I was getting upset....

give us your other choices - they do have some nice ones.

also check each day - those getaways change daily....

thanks for the words of confidence :) Only problem is.. I want mine for May.. & there isn't much time left.

They did email me back & told me that if there are no dates that I can use (or want) I can get a refund. Only thing is, they didn't tell me when I was getting the info so I could start calling to see what they have! I have been checking the getawayweeks site & nothing...

I am seeing Vacation Villa at Parkway for
5/5
5/6
5/7
5/12
5/13
5/14
5/19
5/20

all 1-bedrooms.

Now if you are trying for a 2-bedroom - those only come up for resorts that are pretty far - like the Villas at Fortune Place.

can you change your time?

Nope, cannot change my time frame. The kids get out of school on the 25th. I also work for the schools so my last day is then too. I am checking into Pop Century on 6/2 for a week. I have to check in there by the 3rd to get the AP rate. I wanted to stay offsite for the week before so we could do Universal & shop... that was why I planned it that way. There is no way possible for us to go up any earlier... I would not be allowed off of work since my vacation for the entire summer starts on the 26th. Do you see what I am saying....
When I started bidding on that auction, they did have the 26th as a check in. I had been watching for about 3 weeks.. Wouldn't you figure, when I finally do my bid & win, it is gone.. that is my luck. I'm hoping that something else opens up for that time frame. I cannot do less than a one bedroom, a studio will only hold 2. I have 4 going. If I can get a 2 bedroom, my dd & her boyfriend will come up that week as well. Last year I got a 2 bedroom at Silver Lake & 2 years before that, did a 2 bedroom at Westgate. Both of them were regular (old fashion) Skyauction bids..not this new thing.

Wow, if you can get a refund if no dates pop up that you want, then doesn't that effectively eliminate the "risk" factor? That certainly makes this type of auction a much better deal than the RSG.

when I couldn't find anything I was told that skyauction would kept $100 - and refund the rest....

well since I only bid $168 I decided to kept trying....

I will look for you too...

will anytime in the summer work too???

does your school have a fall break?

how about thanksgiving? - of course those are probably more difficult to get than Memorial day..

Do they keep the $100 because you still get to keep the $100 future certificate?

Or if you can't find anything, do you forfeit both the week and the certificate when you get your "all minus $100" refund??

My DH works for a school too, and as such he is a government (state) employee. That qualifies us to book $299/week timeshares through www.getravelop.com

Their inventory is often very similar to skyauction's (same RCI parent company), but not always exactly the same. If you're a state employee, you might want to keep an eye on that site, too. Would cost a bit more, but still very inexpensive per night.

Thanks for that tip... I hadn't known that.

I am thinking that is what they meant by that with me.... I would forfit a $100 of my money since I did get the $100 certificate.. I hadn't realized that was the type of auction you had won. I thought it was a RSG.
My win was a $200 bid... so if they keep $100 on me, then I will be even... I have a $100 from them... so I won't mind as much.
The only time I can go is in the summer. I really need those dates though since I am going to Pop from 6/2-10th. I could propably find somewhere else to stay for that week (5/26-6/2) if I do not get one thru Skyauction with that win, then use the win for winter break since I have until 12/31 to use rather than loose my $100 "profit".
I am thinking that they will end up having something.. they usually do as it gets closer... the last minute fill up the resort deals.. that week is Memorial Day weekend though & may make it harder.... I will have to be on my toes about checking every morning...once I get my resort cert to start calling!!!!

Inventory changes very frequently, so as you get closer to your week, it might be good to check as often throughout the day as you can. Know exactly what to to do nab the week if you see it, and act fast! The first time I used GETRAVELOP I couldn't reserve on-line (no account number yet), and in the time that it took me to call in, the week I wanted was gone!

Skyauction emailed me my resort code certificate about 30 minutes ago! I called the 800 # and there was nothing for my dates. The rep on the other end was very very nice. I explained my situation to him, told him how it was a Skyauction & that there was a condo when I bid etc... He said to call at least once a day to see what has opened.. I will try my best for the next few weeks.. it is only 7 weeks away...

I agree i would call them directly

the number I got was 800 618-4968?? wonder if it is the same place? I will try other number too.. thanks :thumbsup2

the 800 929 number is skyauction's head office...

the one you have is the "getawayweeks" arm of RCI .....that will be the one you have to call to book using the certificate....
