As anyone changed from SKY to SKY+.

Is it really worth it. We are debating about it, deal at the moment is £99 with multiroom, we do not really want the multiroom option.

But without this option it is £199.

My mum has it and she loves it and wouldnt be without it now! Its really good that you can record more than one programme at the same time and skip thru them etc.

We have had it for just over a year now and I really don't know how we would live without it now :)

It's so easy you can just set a programme to record through the planner and then link it for the whole series so you never miss an episode.

We have had a couple of occasions where the recording hasn't worked for different reasons to do with software gliches on the box :( but overall the positive aspects far outweigh these negatives IMO.

I was really lucky and won my SKY+ box in a Daily Telegraph competition at Xmas - we really would not ever want to be without it!!!!!! It is the way of the future, tapes and recordable DVD's will be no more!!!!!! The series link is invaluable, it's just the best. It would be the first thing I would replace if it went wrong-the cooker would wait weeks but SKY+ would be done right away!LOL!

If you like your TV, this is another vote for go for it!!

We switched to Sky+ in November (we went for the multiroom option) and really could not imagine being with out it now. As others have said, recording is just so easy and there is no need to hunt for the things you have recorded on tapes and so on because they are just listed for you.

You can use it to time shift what you watch, so you never really need to watch adverts. Being able to pause the live programmes is good to, you don't need to miss what you are watching if the phone or doorbell rings or anything else comes up.

It sometimes glitches - but not often - it really seems to have improved lately.
In my opinion, once you have it you won't be able to imagine life without it.

I'd definately second all the recommendations too. Being able to pause a programme if the phone rings or the children wake up is priceless.

Like everyone else I do not know what I'd do without my sky plus box. I've had it for over a year and its fantastic. I never watch any TV live now. In fact on the few ocassions I did watch TV on my recent holiday, it was very irritating not to be able to fast forward through the adverts :rotfl:

Alan - we had a few problems like this to begin with. They changed our box twice and since the new year this latest box has had no problems (touch wood). Might be worth you considering if it happens again.

Am I the only person in the universe who doesn't have sky/cable/freeview??? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Gasp! :faint: How do you live without hundreds of pointless channels all showing repeats to flick thru???

I dont know how we would live without our Aero Bed™. Wow, my partner can do cartwheels witha bowling ball without breaking my sleep.

Truely amazing.

Sky rules!

We got Sky + in March (and Multiroom, which we never use and still doesnt work despite a zillion calls to the Indian call centre...grrrr). Our first Sky+ box nearly burnt my house down as the fan was faulty and melted the box. The second one had a faulty modem. The third one seems OK but it does freeze up now and then.

It is handy, but Im not a huge TV person. The reason we got it was our VCR packed up and it was the choice of a new video or Sky+. We plumped for Sky+ as DH is a bit of a gadget freak.

I do have to point out that Sky have the very worst customer service department in the entire world as well.

we have sky+ (or sky- as we call it) and in theory its brilliant but getting it to actually work is another thing. we have had 4 sky+ boxes since december. we have had numerous engineers, boxes, lmb's and dishes. before we had sky- we had had sky for years with no faults.

I don't!

Princess Jackson,

I'm with the crowd on this one, had it two months wouldnt be without it. Kids got multiroom upstairs.

On a different note have you been to see the ships? can you see the fireworks from your place (we are a little too far) I took a walk on the Quay side on Monday with DS's and went on the big wheel, :goodvibes great atmosphere

Dont watch enough TV to justify such an extravagance pirate:

I'm one for keeping up with technology, and I have to say my Sky+ box is one of the best products I have ever bought, especialy as I got it for £99 by pretending i worked for BT (who had a special deal at the time).
However, it is a particularly unreliable system. Within a year I was on my 3rd box, then that failed 2 months out of warranty, but I went mad at them and they replaced for free in february. Around June, the 4th box broke, but I just fixed it myself and upgraded it to Sky+160 spec by replacing the hard drive, which was the faulty part anyway. It now seems Ok.
My in-laws box has been equaly unreliable, they had their 4th box replaced last Wednesday, and by Sunday thats already gone faulty.

Yes we went to the tall ships, we live 5 min walk from the quayside. And i agree it was a good atmosphere.

For the fireworks i was on duty and i was standing on the swing bridge.

Fireworks were good.

OMG.. we love SKY+! We have had it for 2 years now.. and I just couldnt live without it.
It remembers to record all my favorite programmes when i forget!!!
