Sky liner to go get a treat? Tips!

Hi there! My kids and I are staying 2 nights at Art of Animation this June, its just a small part of a longer vacation. We are getting in on a Saturday afternoon and plan on just swimming and checking out resort that day, but since we are staying at a resort with the sky liner I thought after dinner it would be fun to take a trip on it and maybe get dessert at another resort. Beaches N Cream would obviously be the best choice but since their counter isnt open for to go (which makes NO sense) that isnt an option Does anyone else have any suggestions at the other resorts that are on the sky liner? TIA

Even if you don't get a treat at another resort, I would just go for a round-trip ride! We really enjoyed riding when we were there.

Someone with first-hand knowledge may have better info, but, based on the Swan/Dolphin app, it appears The Fountain (at the Dolphin) has their take-away ice cream counter available. Or you could walk over to the Boardwalk resort to get dessert at Boardwalk Bakery or Screen Door General Store.

I haven't been, but I saw in a video recently that Riviera has a coffee/pastry/cookie place, Le Petit Cafe. The online menu doesn't show the pastries, but some are pictured and the about page mentions them.

Yes they do! It is a cute little spot and have maybe 5 desserts or so.

The Lobby is worth visiting too. Very unique.

Another vote for Riviera - pretty spot to walk around at and they do have some dessert type foods. The Fountain at Swan/Dolphin is another good option, and more similar to what they'd offer at Beaches & Cream.

They are using the tables that people would have used for to-go orders for people dining there to allow them to make it worth having the restaurant open with physical distancing requirements. With nowhere for people to sit (also as I understand it there were issues with crowding lining up) it made no sense to keep the window open.

So if we take the sky liner from Art of Animation, we'd have no problem going into the resort? Is it just people driving in via car that they would ask you why and possibly not let you in?

Correct. You would be fine coming on the Skyliner.

They are being very hesitant about people coming in via car - and especially at those close to parks or on the Skyliner Route because some people take advantage and would park there for a "reservation" but then go on to the parks, thus avoiding the parking fee at the parks.

I have no idea if they will allow you on the Skyliner with an ice cream cone. Honestly, by the time you walk to the Skyliner from B&C, you will probably be done with the ice cream.

This is indeed the situation at Beaches and Cream. I actually counted when we were there on Sunday and depending on how they rearrange the tables for party size, there are essentially 16 4-tops and four additional 2-tops. Plus 4 usable tables outside. Because of the way the ice cream window fits into the walkway, if people are lined up for ice cream there is no way to socially distance. Currently, they have actually covered up the ice cream window area with potted plants.

I think you could bring it on if you're not actively eating it at the time. But, they wouldn't want spills or to have you without a mask on the whole ride, because you're still expected to wear a mask in your own gondola. IMO, it makes more sense to eat it there. It will just be a melty mess by the time you get to wherever you're going on the Skyliner.

They won't let you on the Skyliner while you are actively eating. They will ask you to finish eating first. But you would be able to take food that is packaged. There are very nice places to sit and eat outside at the BC, BW, and YC. There is a sandy beach at both BC and YC that has lounge chairs and swing chairs. The Boardwalk has tables set up outside.

I agree. Last trip in summer we got ice cream. They melted so fast we had to continue to lick the drips before they fell and had to get more napkins. Another time my granddaughter got a Mickey bar a few years ago and took it on MK train. It melted so fast it fell off the stick on the train. She had ice cream everywhere.

I haven't taken ice cream but in January we would take skyliner from Pop, stop for donuts and coffee at Carib Beach, get back in line and get back on skyliner to Epcot or HS - donut and coffee in hand, actively eating/drinking and it was fine no one said anything at all. It made the morning travel from Pop to the park even more magical to sit, sip, snack and take in the sights from up above. It also helped us avoid needing to stop inside park to sit and drink coffee since you can't stroll around with them anymore.
