There is so much talk of using Sky Auction here for a great deal. I, personally, have never dealt w/ them. I'm wondering if some of our SA veterans can give us some insight on how to use them.

Things like what to do and not to do. What types of fee's are involved? Are your reservations guaranteed. Any help would be great. I'm going to check w/ the WM's too and see if we get a good enough info base- if we can't sticky this to the top of the board.

TIA!! :goodvibes

www.skyauction.com
click on usa/canda
then
click on Florida (right side)
then
click on hotels only (down right side) - but only if you don't want to pariticipate in the home away from home. (then only do the Florida)

I only do the timeshares.

these are the ones for 7 days only.

the fees is $195 + $15 - so total fee is $210. for the entire 7 days.

I have own bids before with a $1.

You need to register before you start to bid.

then you need to wait until the last few minutes to place your bid. Now this doesn't work if anyone has already bid. they can use the autobid.

the autobid is an automatic bid. It is very nice. You put in the lowest amount in the bid field, then the highest amount in the autobid field. It will bid against others for you until it runs out of money or the bid is won.

there is also a place for you to watch this participate auction.

I happen to love skyauction

when do you go on your next vacation spicey....just got back and are going again dec 4

we stayed at both vacation village at parkway and sunterra polynesian isles this time....we spilt the 8 days between the two....

Hi Lawgs and DISers,
I am staying at Vacation Villas at Parkway from Dec 2-9... any recommendations of the best rooms or locations to ask for? I won off Skyauctions a 1 bedroom with a full kitchen. I read somewhere that some of the rooms you can see the fireworks from DTD.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance :flower:

would you believe this week. Someone on tug send me a note about the sales that RCI had - so I got CWR since Spicey can stay here for $149 for the week. just a 1-bedroom but that is all he and I need. NO ONE ELSE IS GOING....

I almost got me a 'home away from home' yesterday - my big mistake was not waiting until the last minute. I almost got it for $166...but someone else came in at the last minute.

So I am still trying for one of those!!!

1. What's a CWR?
2. If someone came in at the last minute couldn't you go over the person? I'm just confused at how the bidding works is all!
3. Have a TERRIFIC time, you AND spicey :)

CWR - Celebration World Resort - it takes pet for $50 more for the entire week. So I can have Spicey in the room with me. Most timeshares or condo don't allow pets. Now if it didn't take pets I probably won't love it as much as I do. but for me and Spicey it is just about perfect. No too big. In comparing it to several of the timeshares in the area it is down right small. the people here are great and really try to meet your needs. It does not the activities that the larger resort have - no restuarant, no general store, not even a gift store. it is about 4 miles (might be closer will have to see this time) from the WDW (ak back door)

no, the last person to bid on skyauction bid more than I did. I only had autobid up to $175. they bid more than I did. the bidding had closed before I got back to it. Open an auction is closed - no matter what the final bid - that is it.

Oh I fully intend to have a wonderful time!!!

since your check in is on friday, you will probably be in building 5 if not mistaken....but here is a repost of something i found on TUG

well i think i can give you something to ruminate on.....this was posted on TUG by Vodo

Is there anything specific you would like to know? The units are very nice, although they skipped some of the little fru-fru items like silk plants, pottery, etc. I would not book anything there other than a 2BR or a 1BR with a full kitchen. The 1BR with a partial kitchen is small (though still nice) and is missing some of the better perks, like a jacuzzi tub. The 2BR's are lockoff combinations of a 1BR with full kitchen and a 1BR with partial kitchen.

There is no security gate. Amenities include a couple of pools, a nice little playground, a barbecue area with picnic tables, a small nature trail, a fitness center and an internet room. The last two (fitness center and internet room) are located in the check-in building which is across the street from the units and up closer to 192. There are regular parking lots, but also some open garages which are first come-first served (these are particularly nice during hot summer months since your vehicle stays cool under shelter). Customer service is very good; extremely friendly staff.

The newest buildings are the farthest from the primary amenities, located at the back of the property past Arabian Nights, and may overlook ongoing construction. If you have a Sunday check-in, you will be put in one of the new buildings unless you can convince them otherwise. If you have a Friday check-in, request Building 5. If you have a Saturday check-in, request Building 6. Those are the newest buildings in the original phase and are in excellent shape. Also, Building 5 (and probably Building 6 too) has large screen projection televisions. The newest buildings have standard 35"-ish tube televisions. Lastly, the buildings are designed with interior hotel-like corridors; therefore, there are units on both sides of each building. Our initial request was for a pool view rather than a parking lot view on the top floor. However, they could only give us a top floor unit on the parking lot side. This turned out to be a good thing. Even on the top floor, noise carries from the pool/playground area. The parking lot view not only let us avoid the extra noise, but it overlooked a nice little wooded area beyond the parking lot, gave us a view of Arabian Nights (which is kind of pretty at night), and also provided a great vantage point for nightly fireworks from one of the theme parks (maybe Epcot?).

Hope this helps!

by the way, the couch in our unit was terrible, you sit on it and the cushion pushed into the springs of the "pull out"....but the big screen tv was nice....

they will offer you to do the timeshare tour when you get your "parking pass" , regardless of how you got there....50$ and a breakfast buffet at the raddison

Thank you Lawks.... Happy Thanksgiving... goble goble :wizard:

So you actually paid $359 for the week?

I was just reading on skyauction that if you refer a friend (and they register with skyauction) you receive $5 that you can use toward an auction (max $50 per auction, or 10 friends).

How does this work? Is there an expiry on these funds? I won't be bidding for some time and I wonder if I should hold off referring friends?
Also, how does skyauction know to use your sky auction $s to put towards an auction?
$50 towards a RSG auction would significantly reduce the overall cost

Any info. would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

only if the RSG get better, they seem right now not to be as good or as many offerings in the orlando area...RCI seems to have a lot of other outlets by which it is renting out the excess inventory

a lot of the inventory on Skyauction now are combined with air travel, bid per night or outright purchase price for orlando properties

hopefully as the year progresses, there will be more offerings

In Nov and Dec last year I see at 3 pages of Orlando offerings daily, now sometimes there are no Orlando at all! For SA veterans, is this normal for this time of the year? I thought Jan/Feb is low season? Will Orlando offerings be limited until Nov and Dec?

they might be limited all year.

for some unknown reason instead of putting the orlando timeshares in the RCI last call or in skyauction - they are waiting (and hoping) that someone will pay several hundred dollar or even over a thousand for these weeks in extra vacations.....

now February - there just isn't any there.

but March - they have a ton in March - but so far nothing in skyauction or last call.

I am still hoping they will put some in last call or skyauction.

oh by the way I am pretty mad about the way skyauction is doing Orlando timeshares this year.

they have made it so to get some of them (my favorites) you have purchase an airline ticket.....this is so downright unfair!!!!

beside if I am going to fly I would go with Southwest for less than anything skyauction has to offer - especially with their $195 per guest charge for flying....then I would not have to drive to Atlanta - I would get a better price....

Disappointing maybe.

But hardly unfair.

You had to figure that this couldn’t go on forever. Getting a 2 bedroom suite at an upscale resort for prices as low a $30 night has to be an anomaly. For this price you can’t get a roach infested room in a dive motel in any other major city in the country. Somebody, somewhere was bound to come along and figure out a way to get more money out of these suites. Maybe combing freakishly low room rates with moderately priced airfare will do the trick. This still adds up to a pretty incredible deal for lots of people.

Just putting my 2 cents in about Celebration World. We loved it. Our friends own there and we went last year. Wish we were going back there this year instead of Orange Lake, but OLCC is where we got the package. Some day when I am finished my schooling we will buy timeshare.

CWR is small and perfect for our family.

Yes - I know. My feeling, too!

I really love it. Instead years ago I brought at Westgate. Which is on the market again.

I really need to get rid of Westgate....

1. When booking a skyauction ready, set, go auction, how much do you add on to the price of the auction, $195 or $210?

2. I read on the ready set go page that sometimes the resort/hotel can charge an extra $10 - $50.
has this ever happened to anyone? I am looking at Vacation Village at Parkway specifically
From Skyauction RSG page:
Some resorts may have additional taxes from $10 to $50 depending on property and unit type chosen.

Thank you
