In our neighborhood, skunks have started tearing up lawns to get to the grubs. One person in our neighborhood had to completely re-seed their entire lawn! Many more have torn up yards from where the skunks had dug up grubs. I found out that in the past couple of years, the Japanese beetles have laid alot of eggs in the lawn in this area. I haven't treated for grubs before it was never a problem before.

On Sat. night, the skunks tore up a small patch of our yard. I freaked out and went to Lowe's and bought animal repellant pellets (made with fox urine). A shaker bottle was $16.00. We also used a spreader for grub control. The skunk didn't return last night....which is good because they usually return to the same spot and continue digging up the lawn.

Is there anything else I can do to keep the skunks away? Trapping isn't really a budget option. Is there anything else I can put on the lawn?

Has anyone else had to deal with this?

Can't really help with the skunks, but be aware that you will still have work do to next year to get the grub problem under control. This is really the wrong time of year to treat for them.

You need to put grub control down in late spring, around the end of May/beginning of June, when the eggs hatch and the grubs start to feed.
