Skipping WDW parks for Universal because of FP+

Yes, No. 4 is definitely where I'm at right now.

Since we've been every other year people - and the current schedule puts us at FOUR YEARS between Disney trips - with this summer being year two - I have two more years before we seriously start thinking about where we are going to be when and what attractions we want to do. By then, everything will be old hat, the guidebooks will be updated - and although I'm sure I'll feel a little lost walking into a Disney with a different Fastpass system and a new Fantasyland since last I went, I'll be able to follow enough guidebook guidance that combined with my own experience and a few weeks on the theme park forum, will make the trip easy. But I'm not willing to be the one to figure it out.

I'm not even concerned about a single headliner - as long as single rider lines stay in play our family uses them. We have teens. We really never need to ride Soarin' again (well, one day that MIGHT bother to change the movie). My kids will ride RnRC again - my husband never has and twice was plenty for me.

We were planning a trip for two weeks in '15 yes a year out because we did the Magic Bands and FP+ thing for the F&W this last Oct. I didnt mind the bands for convenience but did not like that we couldnt do more FP per park and they system to change to different rides was slow and they were usually gone. We had a premier pass because we are GCV Home, so we hop a lot from park to park and if they are going to offer a hopper pass they should offer FP for more then one park.

Also a friend of ours in going this April and they are stay off site and now I feel like they are almost being punished for it because as soon as they get into a park they need to go wait in a FP kiosk line to get passes for the day with everyone else....YUK.

Our '15 trip we are planning on Universal and probably only going to buy one day passes to WDW. They are loosing any kind of incentives for our DVC family to purchase AP's/Premier passes.

This thread has been helpful. Long time DVC member (14 years) with trips every 1-2 years. Always been super organized (yes, spreadsheets!) and the new MDE system does reduce the need for those which is pretty neat. I am going to wait and see how it goes. Our kids are grown and we are doing an adults only trip with another couple in March. I DO like that you can plan FP's for later in the day to coordinate with a dinner reservation etc. I also was always the one running all over the park to get everyone's FP's and I won't miss that one bit! I do not like that we have to choose between headliners like Soarin and Test Track. Also don't like that we paid a lot of money for park hopper passes and now we can only get FP's in one park per day. Credit Card for restaurant cancellations seems ridiculous. They should allow cancellations up to 2-hours in advance with small fee. But I love WDW and will experience the new system first before being upset. They do need to work on IT though...websites and app are not very easy to use, are often slow, and also down a lot. That needs to be fixed if they want the younger generation to buy-in!
