Skipping the check in desk

We are staying at AKL. If we complete online check in in advance, can we just drop our luggage at bell services and head to the parks. We will have our magic bands with tickets loaded. Also how will the parking attendant know that we are resort guests?

You still need to check in at the desk inside AKL. Thats where you get your parking pass. You also need to get your magic band assigned to your room so you can use it as your room key when you get back from the parks. Just take the extra few minutes, check in, get your parking pass, room key, then go to the parks.

Online checkin just speeds things up by giving them your credit card info, etc ahead of time. Unless you get picked for the pilot program where you can bypass the desk and have your room number sent to you, you will still need to check in.

I thought the by pass the desk was already in place. So I was wondering how that actually worked. But since it is still in testing phase desk check in it is.

It's no longer in a test phase. It's being rolled out to resorts, and has already been rolled out to AKL. You should have the option during online check-in to select bypassing the front desk, in which case you can just drop your bags at bell services and proceed to the parks. You'll get a text with you room number when it's ready.

That's a good question and actually something I haven't seen much about with regard to this new program. Everyone who has tried the new process and reported back has seemingly not had any issues with it. But I know I did standard online check-in back in November and my CC info hadn't saved, so they had to re-link it so I could charge to my band. Probably wouldn't hurt to test it before you head out.
