Skipping AK

AK is a 1/2 day park for us....which is fine - but we did skip it twice now since it was built....

Funny - DH & I once divorced after the Dinosaur ride....

Maybe it's something in the soil....

But we haven't been back since then so smooth sailing. :)

MK is a Must Do (Tradition), Epcot is a Must Do (It's so different from other parks), HS is a mostly must-do (except when we skipped it to go to AK but now with TSM and AI, it will probably remain a must do)

Do what you want to do, and have a magical time!

Hugs,
Mary

We love AK we enjoy both the lion king show and finding nemo. I love the 3d It's tough to be a bug. EE is awsome. Well I could just go on and on. I do know how you feel though. We went once and skipped DHS which is our least favorite, but we still love it. Anyway we skipped it and all the way home I wished I had gone. How ever we had a great trip and we went to all the parks on the next trip. Make the best of your trip do what works for you.:goodvibes

Funny - DH & I once divorced after the Dinosaur ride....

See, that's what happened in November at The Lion King. I spent most of the show wondering why the heck I married a man who would freak out on me for not reading his mind about taking DDs sunglasses out of his hands.

I read the books on Animal Kingdom and agree that the theory is great. I do love the details but it is so hot!

I still feel a bit bad for skipping it but I'm sure we'll prefer the extra time in, gasp, Hollywood Studios. Kid is a Tower of Terror junkie.

Ak is not a park to skip! There is so much to see and do.

If you have the Disney Celebrations magazine, read the article in the newest issue about AK.

I would skip DS before any other. JMO.

Same here for what it's worth :) :thumbsup2

These kinds of threads are actually what I find to be a more beautiful thing about Disney.... the experience is so unique for each family. If every single family wanted to do the exact same thing, none of of would ever have any fun because things would be too mobbed!

It was my first time to ride Dinosaur...and DH thought it would be funny to unlock my seatbelt without me knowing.....

I didn't know what to expect! I thought it was a roller coaster and I was gonna die if I didn't belt myself back in! Quite difficult to do on that bumpy ride!
Can you imagine the "park rage" I unleashed on him after it was over! HA! We laugh about it now...but I will never forget it...

I love AK, but it doesn't take more than 1/2 day to do everything we want to do there. We'll do AK in the morning, eat lunch there, then hop over to DS for the afternoon/evening. AK & DS are both 1/2 day parks for us, for right now. Once we start going with kids that might change though.

I wish I could skip AK but my DH loves the safari ride. It's always so hot there and I end up with a headache every time.

I'm right there with you! It's so hot and I always get a headache too.

DH and DS love it though. The safari ride mostly.

This past trip I did PM EMH and I really enjoyed the park. It was nice and cool and AK is beautiful at night. Riding EE at night was a lot of fun! Next trip I plan to do PM EMH and then do one morning for the things that were closed during PM EMH. I mean out by noon. It just gets so dang hot and I don't even go when it's really hot so I can't even imagine that park in teh summer! :scared1::scared1:

Hey That's good advice....

DO you think there would be better viewing at the Safari at dusk?

We might try AK in PM next time....Thanks for suggesting....

We wouldnt skip AK because we love it. It sounds like you dont--and you know because youve tried it several times before. Therefore I dont blame you for wanting to skip it. Everyone has different tastes. I just think it should be given a try, which you have.

I wouldn't skip AK, but I'm not you. You have been there before so you know exactly what you'll be missing. Do what works for you. Luckily, we don't have to submit our touring plans to a vote on the Disboards.
