Skipper Canteen info

If training starts Nov 15, seems like a long time until a Dec. 20 opening. I'm hoping for an earlier opening date. Maybe ADRs will open up once training has started???
Yeah I saw the 20th and thought that sounds way late. I'm sure they will open earlier

I'm hoping against hope for a soft open before our trip ends on Nov 21.

I know the feeling...we will be there from 11/15-11/20 and would love to catch a soft opening as well. Doesn't look too promising but one can hope :)

I just heard from a manager at Magic Kingdom that opening would be December 18th. At the same time, a friend text and told me she was POSITIVE the opening was the 15th. So not at all helpful! But it does look like it will be December, rather than November. I'm so excited to see the menu when it gets released!

Still I would assume a soft opening like they did with BOG. Big question is will they do walk up only or would they do something like they did with BOG.

Can you refresh my memory- what did they do for BOG soft opening?

Thanks for the report KateP85! We are doing MVMCP on the 15th. We also will be in the MK on the 16th and Saturday the 19th, but that is the first super crowded Holidays day. I hope they allow us to make ressies soon. Fingers crossed.

Well I think I may be out in the cold. WE will be there on the 12th, ad hoped we could get in for lunch or dinner.

We'll be at MVMCP on the 15th too and we are in MK the 13th. I hope that they at least release a menu soon.

Well its been a while but what I remember is they had some previews for AP holders to walk through then had some soft opening meals that were not announced and they invited guests in the park to have a meal. I think there were even kiosks on the way out to do a survey during these "test meals". Official opening was Nov. 19th but they started meals maybe a week before hand. Edited: I actually think they started before Nov 1 for the soft opening I looked at a review on easyWDW and they ate on Nov 2.

The thing that makes me doubtful is that they started taking reservations for BOG opening Nov 19th on August 20th so if they had that kind of lead time we should be a month into ADR already and we certainly arent :scared:. Im hoping that means they arent expecting the same kind buzz/crowds but maybe they just arent as sure about the start date.

Anyway Disney rarely does anything without a little dress rehearsal!

I also think that Disney will try to slip the ability to make ADR's in quietly to try to avoid crashing their systems. I think that they learned a hard lesson with BOG. I have no idea how they can manage this, but I think they will try.

Your post made me paranoid so I checked to see if there was anything available between Dec. 20-23. Nope.

Oh gosh! That was not my intention. I am so sorry. I will admit that I keep looking at LTT daily and check to see if this one shows up.
