you're going to just have to go inwatching for December...
The same aplies to me. Since I am from abroad (Europe) and I am not willing to buy a US-SIM-Card for my cell phone for a week of stay.... And there are more than just one international group at WDW. I really hope they have some kind of pager or other methods of notification.
I may be alone but this would be awesome. I loved the text feature. We were told 50 minutes - more than enough time to do something & come back. Great option for spontaneous trips. There will be NO ADR just so you know. JSC is the first of it's kind disney has (BRG isn't disney) that will only take walk-ups. they're testing this out for future restaurants but as a CM, i can tell you this isn't going to work. So don't fret, just plan one day without reservations and go in and try to get a seat. the new text feature is pretty awesome because even if they tell you it's a 2 hour wait, you can at least go ride a few rides then come back!

Just wanted to let everyone know I spoke with ADR yesterday (about our June rezzies)
She checked their list for me and it hadn't even been
added yet.
She recommended checking back in the new year. That is when they will update the system
and will hopefully have added it by then. So that is some hope at least that there will be ADRs available.
Just as a side note for those of us who want to walk up to a restaurant and get a table. I have
done this at very popular restaurants with a fairly big group (8) at busy times and while surprised at my request
they have been able to accommodate us. You never know and it is worth trying
even at the last minute.
People cancel all the time I know I have
Thanks for everyone who contributes to these threads. Planning can be so stressful.![]()
We are going to be 18 people... I don't see this working out very well...
you never know actually!! we haven't been as busy as i thought we would be and would definitely take big parties! when are you going?
I actually work at this restaurant and we are NOT going to have ADRS. we're a test restaurant to see how it pans out![]()
Long before 180-day ADRs became the norm, there was once a time when you could show up in Epcot with no reservations, and talk with a CM on a video screen to make same-day dining reservations. That was fun
I remember those when we were little...we felt so futuristic doing that!
I likewise don't want to have to make an ADR but Disney has kind of made that the norm...and now they are throwing this
in the loop - ehh not cool. Making ADRs available doesn't take away walk ups but for a new restaurant to not have ADRs seems crazy
when guests have planned the whole rest of their day out based on other ADRs and fastpasses. Disney
created this system and they need to stick to it or make some announcement for guests
I'm not sure I understand why having this as a walk up is a problem with FP+. I would plan my FP+ early in the day and then have all afternoon and evening to try SC. I personally don't like the ADR system, though I do make use of it. I think it would be nice if it went to a 30 day window and they reserved a portion of the tables for walk ups. I also wish they allowed you to change one reservation for another same day without a cancellation penalty, even if it had to be for the same restaurant but a different time.
Personally, we usually plan our FP's for our 2nd or 3rd park of the day, late, because we know the lines will be long and that we've missed the early morning rope drop opportunities. We also don't use them at Epcot because they're just a waste over there - we can do Soarin' at rope drop then hit the single rider line at Test Track and standby on Mission Space bcuz the line there is never very long. Bam. We're done with Epcot.
With the new system we're very similar at AK as we are at EP - going in at rope drop on EMH mornings & hitting EE severel times stand-by before moving over the the safari when it opens at 9:00. Then we bounce around between other stuff and are usually done by lunch. We eat then leave. Again, better to save our FP's for later in the day. This way of touring means we need to leave gaps in the evening between FP's for any TS meals - walk-ups are unpredictable for time…easier now to have an ADR.

So with your strategy of booking FP+ late in the day, couldn't you do a walk up for an early lunch at SC? With only three FP+ to book in advance, we try to do them back to back so the time before and after is clear for any dining we want to do. I don't like squeezing ADRs in between FP+ because then the meals feel rushed. I guess everyone has their own touring strategy and needs to find a way to make the SC walk up work for them.
