other than the fast pass - is there any way to skip a line or two at disney? A friend told me that a couple of times an employee at the park gave them a skip pass? Does any one know how to get our hands on one...or a few?

I have been to DL over 40 times in my ilfe and have never been "given" a "skip the line" pass by any CM and doubt they even exist. Don't count on it for your trip. Just plan ahead.

No legal way that I know of.

They do exist, but you shouldn't count on getting one during your trip. Sometimes the CM's can give you a "Fastpass for any ride except _____" pass if, for example, you're on a ride and it breaks down for an extended period of time, or if you have waited in line for say, 90 minutes and just as you're about to board the next vehicle, the ride shuts down due to mechanical failure. In those cases you can ask the CM and they might give you this special type of FP. Usually there is a stipulation, such as "FP for any ride except Toy Story Midway Mania" for example. They are pretty rare, so while your friend may have received one, don't count on getting one on your visit.

Now, what your friend might also be talking about is a "Single Rider" pass. If you're friend went alone, there are a few rides at the parks that have Single Rider Lines. If you're alone, you can go up to the CM and ask for a SR pass and they will give you one. It allows you to enter through a special line, usually the exit, and skip ahead in line. I use the SR passes frequently. They are available on Splash, Indy, Soarin', Screamin', and Grizzly River.

They do exist but are for rare and exceptional circumstances that they are issued...usually...

It is a fast pass good for almost any ride as listed above with the number in your group that it is good for. Forget the actual name of the pass, but I have been issued one for our group of 3 one time.

If a ride breaks down and you are just in line, no dice. If ride breaks down and you have been in line for 90 minutes, are close to the boarding area AND raise a mild but polite stink with a CM, you MIGHT be issue one.

We used it on Small World of all things as we had FP or had just ridden almost all of the other rides that night...CM look at us like we were crazy for using it on Small World when we walked up to the exit line! You basically have the same access as a handicap access for non FP rides.

There are also the VIP passes. My co worker had them when her daughter graduated from high school. They took her to DLR as a present and the daughter's friend's dad works with high level Disney execs (and makes monthly trips down there). He got VIP passes for everyone in the group.
I was just talking about this the other day with her. She doesn't even really like to going DLR and she gets the fancy pass! :confused3 Anyway, that's highly unlikely to get too.

I got one on my last trip. I was on Soarin' Over California and the ride broke down while I was strapped in. We were actually stuck on it for awhile. When they were finally able to release us, they gave us 1 pass per party. The pass was good for 6 people on any ride except for Toy Story Mania. My MIL, daughter and I were stuck together. It worked out ok since we had already done Soarin' the day before, but I would have been pretty bummed if it was our first time that trip. We ended up using the pass on Mickey's Fun Wheel for a swinging car. That made the most sense to us since we could all ride it (2 little boys in the group), it's a family favorite, and it can get a long line with no fastpasses available. We saved it until right before we left the park as our grand finale of walking right up and getting on.

I don't know if it's different in Disney World, but we just got back yesterday and on Friday (our last day in the park), we got stuck waiting for a table in the Castle for a while, even though we had reservations. When they did finally seat us, they handed us a magical fast pass to any ride in the park. I took a picture of it:

What's weird is that A: it wasn't really that long of a wait and B: there's a box to check for 'wait time', but they didn't check that box, they checked "other". I'm really not sure why we received it, but it was pretty cool since it was our last night at the park. We were planning on leaving right after dinner, but used the magical FP and rode BTMRR one last time before we said goodbye!

Did not see anyone mention the Single Rider lines but we use those regularly. :)

I have got the Attraction Readmission Pass which I was on a ride that was broken down. It was a bummer and also a great thing to do, not only for the pass but the chance to walk in some areas that the guests are not allowed in. I was on two rides that were broken down and given the pass. The rides that I was stuck on were BTMRR & SM. I have used only one of them while I kept the 2nd one as a souvenir. Just like what KTR said on the post that it is good up to six guests for readmission to any ride except TSMM. I used the pass on FNSV and it was at night when the ride wait time was at 30+ mins.

Here is a pic of the pass.

I got one of those one time when I was actually in the loading zone for Soarin'. I mean we were already watching the film with Patrick Warburton when the ride broke. They gave everyone one of those. There were four of us, but since each pass was good for up to six people, when they asked how large our party was, we each said we were a single rider, so we had four passes between us. It happened late in the day, so instead of only being able to ride one or two more attractions before we left, we were able to ride a few of the headliners, and even had an extra pass to use for pixie dust purposes on the way out! However, I should mention that in 36 years of visiting Disneyland, that has happened ONCE. Not anything to think will happen again anytime soon.

When we were in WDW in February our family talked with a CM for about 15 minutes about the differences between WDW and DL. A few minutes later she gave a yellow slip to my kids and told them that Tinkerbell really wanted to treat them to a ride:) The kids loved it and with short lines that day we kept it as a souvenir.

We got this in 2009, at Toy Story Mania of all places:

To this day I am not really sure why we got it. I had done nothing more than approaching the CM at the entrance to trade pins. Never got something like that before, never again afterwards.

Hi, I guess I could find out online but maybe you want to add another post to your counter :yay:. Single rider line for DL or WDW? If for DL, just wondering which rides?

Not sure about Soarin, the only other ride where I've noticed Single Rider because I rarely ride that way, was Toy Story but they no longer have it. Anyone is welcome to answer and I don't mean to get off topic.

I'll contribute to the topic, I too often see a mystery pass but not sure what it is. The only thing I know of is when there's a ride issue such as a breakdown and the CMs hand out the pass mentioned in the posts above.

See my response in post 4 above about single rider lines.

No specific to the topic, but related.
When my daughter was about 3 years old, she had just reached the 35" for the matterhorn and as we were walking by the area where the CM who was managing the line split (we were NOT in line for the ride, just in the walkway next to it), we were discussing if my daughter was really big enough to ride. We started to discuss this with the CM and she reassured us that my daughter would be fine. The CM told us to follow her which I thought was odd since I knew where the lines started. The CM took us right to the load area and told the loading CM to board us next. We totally skipped the line.

We've been lucky enough to get a few of the special FP over the past few years. We actually just got one on Saturday when we had FP for BTMR and they had it closed for some reason. Not broken down since there were train loads of people riding, just closed to the general public and they said it might not be reopened for several, or more, hours. :confused3

We were planning on leaving soon so I went to the Time Board CM and explained, very nicely, my disappointment in the situation. Also pointed out that the ride was closed and her board still showed a 35 min. wait. She quickly gave us a Anyride FP (not valid for TSMM or World of Color) good for 6 people. DD11 decided to use it for Space. We were only 2 riding so we found a group of 3 teenage girls and invited them along with us. They had just pulled FP to return about 10 p.m. (it was around 2 p.m.) and were very thankful.

Another time DD got one from the CM at the times board just because she spent a few minutes talking to her (DD loves to talk to adults!). One other time we got one was when we were waiting to ride in the engine of the train. The CM who knew we were waiting left without telling her replacement we were waiting. The train we should have been on came and went without us. We had to wait 20 more minutes for it to come back around. The CM felt bad about it and gave us the Anytime FP. And I didn't even have to complain to get it. :goodvibes

There are several ways to skip lines here and there for a variety of reasons as some have noted. I've had CM's hand write fast passes as noted above. I've even gotten one that was good specifically for Toy Story.

They aren't common nor something you can just get when you want. None the less, telling the secrets of how to get them here is taboo! People often abuse such and ruin it for those with legitimit reasons!!

This kind of thing has happened to me a few times at DL. Twice I was chatting with a CM and they gave me FOL passes. My guess is that perhaps people come to them with ride/park-related questions constantly but rarely ask them things about themselves and/or if they like their jobs. It's just a guess, of course, but I've had pretty good luck -- and I wasn't just trying to get FOL passes :-).

Another interpretation: perhaps the CM had these FOL passes that they were itching to give away and it was nearing the end of their shift. I just happened to get lucky. Who knows -- but I've always found that being nice to people pays off in many, many ways :)
