Skip FOP?

Just back from a week at WDW and FoP was, to my sister and me, the best best best ride we've ever been on at WDW. Blows everything else out of the water. And neither of us is an Avatar fan, and in fact I've never been able to make it past the first 15 minutes of the movie--and I'm a sci-fi fan. We'd booked 2 FP+s at the 60-day mark and were able to ride 3 other times with FP+s snagged the day of. We were quite surprised that this was relatively easy to do just by continuing to refresh the MDE app.

But, as a PP said, I wouldn't wait 5 hours for this ride. In fact, one of the days we got a day-of FP+, there was a nearly 5-hour standby wait posted.

it was overwhelming. It was almost a spiritual experience for me. I was stunned. It touched my emotions so deeply. I know two people who came out crying because of how deeply it touched them.

I know that sounds hokey, but it's like the imagineers visited heaven, took notes, created a ride to recreate it and my soul recognized home. Sounds crazy? Yep, I agree.

THIS. 100% agree.

I am one of the people who did actually cry on FoP. It completely snuck up on me but I was so overwhelmed by the whole experience that I cried.

I can't tell if you did ride FoP or not. If you did, and wasn't impressed, then ok. But if you didn't, and are basing your opinion by the movie, don't. This by far the best ride at Disney. You get to fly without leaving the ground!

OP. Is getting FP worth the aggravation? Yes.
When you request your FPs at 7am Eastern time, go for FoP 1st, maybe 3rd-4th day of trip. Worse thing is you will then know if you like it or not.

AND, whatever you choose, have a great time!
Nope, I haven't been on the ride. Our visit was only 63 days and there were no fast passes to be found. It didn't matter how many times you hit refresh. So, yes, I am saying that I wasn't impressed, at all, with the movie. In my opinion it was an almost 3 hour commercial that accomplished the same theme as the commercial, "Give a hoot, don't pollute."

But this is just a ride. A ride. People may think it is a great, wonderful, the best ever in the whole world ride. But it is just a ride. In time people will move away from Pandora just like they did every other new ride. And another ride will become the best ever in the whole world .

I have a fast pass for our next trip. But if I didn't, I wouldn't wait in line. And I wouldn't feel like I was missing anything. Heck, Pandora wasn't built the last time we were there, and I didn't feel like I was missing anything.

I don't necessarily like the movie Avatar either and was actually extremely skeptical about Pandora. I'm happy to say that I was totally wrong. FoP is now my absolute favorite ride in all of WDW. In my opinion it would be a shame to miss it. I don't think you have to like the movie to enjoy Pandora (honestly, I don't think it even matters if you haven't seen the movie).

Congrats on being cancer free!!

All of this !! Congrats, and don't skip it !! It is absolutely thrilling !!

Until FoP I thought Spiderman at UIOA was the best ride ever, this goes to the head of the line. Forget what it's based on, just do it.

Congratulations on being cancer free! I would try to ride FOP if you can get a fast pass. My husband, 2 kids and I rode it on our early December WDW trip and all of us absolutely loved it. It was exhilarating and beautiful! I was a bit skeptical after reading reviews about motion sickness and being squeezed in too tightly, but we didn’t experience that at all (and my husband is a tall, bigger guy with muscular calves....I was concerned about him fitting). I wouldn’t wait hours without a FP because no ride is worth that to me, but I would absolutely try to experience it if you can.

Get a fast pass for FOP and enjoy it. The preride is fun as well. My two girls 13 and 10 never saw the movie and it was one of their favorite rides. Probably one of mine too. Luckily for them their 4 year old sister didn’t want to ride it and they got to ride it twice in 30 mins with rider swap. Almost felt bad as people were waiting over 4 hours in June. Probably could have sold it. Lol. J/k. But seriously if ur going to animal kingdom and u can get a fast pass for it. Do it. U will regret if u didn’t.

FOP is a really great ride and one of my favorites at WDW. I thought the themeing was really well done. I've never watched Avatar, but the pre-show explains the ride really well. I get motion sickness on some rides, but didn't have a problem with this one. If you can get a FP+ for it, I'd definitely go, but I won't wait an hour for any ride. Not even ToT which is my favorite ride at WDW.

I wouldn't wait in a long line either. Since I tend to be early for everything, I went at rope drop for S/B. The other times I had F/P.

Have a great time!

only read thru page 1 here, but Id have to say also that the Pandora part is irrelevant. If you enjoy Soarin' then FOP is a must do. I agree also that it is the best ride at the parks. Having said that, I wouldnt do stand by of more than an hour for any ride anywhere, including this. But thats me.
