Hi! We have been to WDW many times and always included all parks. Our kids will have just turned 6 (girl) and 4 (boy) when we go in April 2017. When we were there in 2015 we were not impressed with DHS for our little ones. Only have 5 days (4 because one is departure day) so we are thinking about skipping DHS and spending more time at MK. Think we'll be sorry if we skip it? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

We had same experience in 2015. My daughter was 5 at the time and was only a few things she enjoyed there. So this past year we skipped HS and will be skipping again in 2017 for MK or AK which we enjoy much better. I did miss the great movie ride and my husband loves the rockin roller coaster but not worth spending the day there to us.

nothing significant has opened there since 2015. the only new stuff i can think of is Launch Bay, the 3rd TSMM track, and the Star Wars night time show. If you weren't thrilled with it last time, I can't imagine anything that would change that for you this time.

We just got back from our trip in dec 16. Our kids were 4.5 year old (girl) and almost 3 year old boy.our kids loved HS not as much as MK though. It also depends on your kids preferences. My kids are into Star Wars and with the new movie releasing at that time, Star Wars was in full gear. Enjoyed the Jedi training, storm troopers marching, visiting the newly renovated Star Wars launch area as well as meet and greet with kylo Ren, Chewbacca. My daughter was also able to do some of the thrill rides and she loved the Tower of Terror. We watched a few shows such as Disney's junior show, beauty and the beast and the frozen show. Toy story mania was pretty cool with the family as well.we had just watched the movie 'Moana' and the kids loved meeting her as well. Finally, I thought 'fantasmic' is the best nighttime show at disneyworld and its timing of 7PM worked well for our kids.

If you had to choose just 3 parks, I would recommend HS over AK.

It is not that we don't like the park, but with little ones, it was a different experience for us since we skipped rides like Tower of Terror or Rock and Roller coaster. Not a Star Wars family either.

In your shoes, I'd skip DHS in favor of another day at MK and not give it a second thought. Honestly, we have 8 park days and I still hate wasting one on DHS, but TSM is a favorite so we're doing it.

Thanks so much for the info! I have two scaredy cats who are not ready for TOT or big coasters. And, they are not into Star Wars. Your thoughts are helping me make the decision to spend more time at MK. :) Thanks again!

I think you answered your own question when you said you weren't impressed with the park and you only have 4 days. Personally, I really like the park, but if you don't and your time is limited, don't go.

one thing that might be worth considering regarding Hollywood Studios is characterpalooza. It isn't advertised or guaranteed, which makes it a bit of a crap shoot, but it is a nice way for your kids to potentially meet a number of characters. we literally stumbled across it one afternoon last summer and met Mulan, Pocahantas, Robin Hood, Princess Jasmine, and Geppetto over the course of about 15 minutes. i wouldn't plan to go to HS just for it because it might not happen but, if you were going to go, it'd be worth looking out for.

As someone who has been to WDW over 12 times and never ever skipped a park on a trip (we usually go at least 6 days), the Disney fan in me may have been a little worried I will regret it. Like I said, we were not impressed with DHS the first time we went with our "little ones."

Last week I skipped HS for the first time in 25 years. No regrets.I'll wait until they are finished construction.

We skip DHS on many trips and we go multiple times a year. We've only gone a few times these past few years to see the last Osbourne Lights, Club Villain and the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular. There are really only two rides we like there, so we'll do them if we are going to an event. Otherwise, we skip it.

If you are not Star Wars fans and kids are not thrill ride lovers I would totally skip it in favor of more MK time!

I'm glad I didn't skip over DHS this past December. It turned out to be the most festive of the parks for me. Besides, I can't pass up TSMM, HBD nor SWGS!

You know the park, it would be squeezing it in, you aren't star wars types, your not going to miss the thrill rides. you know what your kids are into.. I think you knew the answer to this before you started the thread. You have 3 days go with the parks that you know you'll love.

When I saw the OP didn't have a family into Star Wars, I totally agree with this. It's just my husband and me and I'm glad Star Wars is coming to the Studios but when we went over Thanksgiving weekend, if either one of us saw one more mention of Star Wars, I think we would have lost our lunch. We've seen all Star Wars movies (except Rouge One) but we're not into the details as much as others. Although, I will say that it made me determined to see all the movies again but can't decide which order - release date or actual events that happened in the movies? So see Episode One first or Episode Four which "back in the day", we all thought as the first one.

My whole family are huge Star Wars fans....I would watch the movies in chronological order if I were you. And you MUST see Rogue One, it's great!!!

My son (now 34 years old) watched Star Wars in release order. When he introduced his kids to the series. he had his (step)daughter watch them in chronological order. She, um, didn't know that very one special aspect of the series until a certain person said "Luke, I am your........". She, um, cried (well, worse). She had absolutely no idea at all. Up until then, she was a fan. We joke about it all the time now with her.

The park is a total skip. Disney realizes this and thus the work toward adding things. We were bored out of our mind the last time and we went for basically a half day.
