Hi all:

Ok so I decided canada is too far to drive! But looks less than 12 hours for us to Utah... so I am thinking maybe Xmas in Park City - or other skiing near there? Are they usually open by Xmas?

So... where to go exactly? Where to stay? I am totally unfamiliar with the area - we would like good skiing, but not the super expensive ones likely.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!!
Kim

Park City is beautiful in the winter (and summer, actually) The Canyons resort has some of the best skiing. There is almost always enough snow by Christmas, but in the off chance that we have a late winter there is always the snow machines making the snow. All of the main resorts are open by mid December. As for a hotel, winter is going to be pricier but without getting too crazy my favorite hotel is the Marriot. It's pretty central to everything, the rooms are beautiful with great bedding. Ask for the lower level poolside, it's not usually any extra, and rather than having a balcany you can walk right out to the pool and hottub courtyard, which is beautiful.

If you are looking for non-expensive skiing, Park City isn't the best place to go. They have fabulous slopes with a price tag to match with the Canyons leading the way. I usually go to Sundance which is half the price and because it is just 10 minutes from where I live. Alta provides great skiing as well but that is further north. But if you choose to go to Park City, you won't regret it. It is a resort town with great shopping and restaurants.

You might want to check the website skiutah.com. That might give you some helpful information.

Have fun!
