Skiers skiing out-of-bounds

I so agree. Here in Colorado we have that issue quite often. And often in the spring and fall, we have hikers who set out on a lovely 60 degree day in spite of the fact the weather can change quickly and does all the time. They get stranded when it begins to snow or get lost and then search and rescue put their lives on the line to go find them. Enjoying nature is wonderful and should always be done but nature above all must be respected!

BC unfortunately has the reputation among skiers for being great backcountry skiing. It attracts the out of bounds crowd.:sad2:

IMO - you ski/snowshoe/sled/snowmobile or any other activity and intentionally go out of bounds, you should have to assume 100% of the risk for getting yourself out.

We have the same issue here with Tahoe skiers and more and more the local search and rescue will bill the person for the cost of the rescue.

It's one thing to be where you are supposed to be and have to deal with avalanches or other disasters but out of bounds is just that - out of bounds
