I just found a pair of Skechers Tone-ups at Shoe Department Encore for just $12.97. They are the slide type, not the flip flops.

I decided that I would rather have the flip flop type and found them at Rack Room for $29.99 and then got my son a pair of athletic shoes for 1/2 price with the BOGO.

Has anyone had good luck wearing these at Disney? I have plantar fac. and tendonitis and have to have something to take to the beach and Disney. If we go in the winter, I can wear my Dansko, but in the spring, they would not look cute with capris.

I will be wearing mine next month and can let you know! I have both the flip flop and slide style and wore them all around Myrtle Beach this summer. They are super comfy! I don't have any foot problems (knock on wood) but am a flip flop girl. I never wear tennis shoes at Disney, my feet get too hot.

I used the "fit-flops" and the toning sneakers, and still found my feet were killing me by the end of the day. Both at Disney and spending time in NYC.

Seriously, seriously, seriously: the best thing I EVER did for my plantar fasciitis was to make the switch to "barefoot" shoes. For years (I developed P.F. about 6 years ago) I tried to cure it with orthotic inserts, thick shoes (Reebok ZigTechs, "toning" shoes). My feet have never felt as good as they have in the two months or so since I switched.

It takes some getting used to, and I spent about $150 on new shoes (a pair of Vibrams and a pair of Nike Frees), but it is so worth it. I just moved to the city (D.C.) and literally walk around all day (just started going for pain-free runs too!) with NONE of that awful, ripping pain of P.F. Sometimes my feet will be sore at the end of the day just from merit of standing on them all day, but from what I understand eventually my feet will pad themselves and that will go away too.

Another effect, I have a bad ankle and always used to "roll" out (ouch!) on those thick-soled sneakers, it's pretty hard to do that when your feet are hugging the ground.

It's not for everybody, but I just wanted to share because it has literally changed my life and I am THRILLED not to be in pain. I know there are a lot of people who preach going COMPLETELY barefoot, as a young professional that wasn't going to happen for me, but I get a ton of positive effects from wearing minimalist shoes and going barefoot around the apartment. :goodvibes There's some starter information here , and if you try it, take it slow! But it really improved my movement, my fitness, and my feet!

I have PF too and I like the shape-ups better than the tone-ups. Sears had the shape-ups for $29.99 on line last week and there was a coupon for free shipping and another 20% off. I got them for $23.99. Try using coupon Celebrate.

Thank you, I tried finding them on Sears.com, could not maybe they are sold out already!!

I just wanted to tell you that I would not suggest them for Disney. I had a pair and I hurt my back at work. When I went to PT the physical therapist took one look at my shoes and said, "Let me guess. You were wearing those when you got hurt." As a matter of fact, I was. He then went on to tell me how much he hated those shoes and how many people they see because of them. he explained that they are designed to throw off your gait and engage your stabilizer muscles. For some people that is ok, but for the majority of people, especially the ones that would be buying them thinking they would help tone their muscles and possibly already have problems, they are BAD news. He begged me to throw them away when I got home. I'm too frugal to throw away a almost new pair of shoes. so I kept them, but did buy and wear another pair of regular tennis shoes. One day I was running late to PT and threw them on. After doing my exercises, I was really sore. My PT looked at me with a smirk and said, "It's the shoes." I did get rid of them after that.

I didn't post this to start a debate about them. I know some people really like them. But considering you already are dealing with tendinitis and PF, I would hate for you to get them for Disney, where you will be walking A LOT and be miserable or worse, injure yourself :(
