Okay, I am completely intrigued with the Sizzix and I want one NOW! However, I need to wait until Michael's has a 40% off coupon and I have some extra cash. I went to Michael's today to price one, and they were out of the actual machines. I was impressed with their selection however- I figured that, like everything else at Michael's they would either be out of most of the stuff, or not have much to choose from. They had a lot! Most of the dies I had highlighted in my Sizzix catalog were right in front of me! Anyway, what does Michael's charge for the actual machine- anyone know? I didn't see a sign. I know ordering directly from Sizzix they are $80. Also, has anyone ever taken advantage of the Tuesday sales at the Sizzix website? I keep forgetting to look at it on Tuesdays and I'm curious if they put great (popular dies, the machine, letters) stuff on sale or just the so-so (paper, adhesive, really seasonal dies) stuff. Thanks for any info!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't remember what Michael's charges for the machine, but it's somewhere around the price from Sizzix. As for the Tuesday Teasers, I've looked a few times and never seen anything that appealing. It's usually various papers or precut diecuts not actual dies. But the monthly sales usually have some good dies to choose from. I got the new seasonal collection last month for 20% (I think) off.

I got the Lollipop alphabet last week at Michaels with the 50% off coupon...It was regularly $150.00 so I saved $75.00--otherwise I don't think I could have ever justified buying it ;)

Candi- I went to a Michael's in San Jose last Friday AM to get the Sizzix machine and they didn't have anything Sizzix. I was so disappointed. I didn't have time to run around to different Michael's that morning so I just got some pens. I am hoping they have a similar coupon soon. I'm glad you were able to get the Lollipop collection- that is high up on my list of must haves!

I got my dies from www.scrapbookmagicstore.com and they were around $100 an alphabet. I don't know if she has the machines, but postage on the machines would be a lot.

PS - you have to email/phone as they aren't shown online

I was at Michael's about 2 hours ago and the machine was there ~ I am in Canada ~ the price was $129 CDN, so that is $90 US. There are tons of dies for $13 US. I thought about buying the machine with the 40% off coupon ($55 US) and every time a new 40% coupon came out I would buy a die for about $8.00 US. I teach preschool art classes and can use the die press for that too. The only thing is, right now I am only teaching one class and I don't know if it's worth the $$$$$. Michael's has the Sizzix alphabet for $199 CDN ($138 US). S

My boyfriend works part time at our local Michael's and they charge $ 79.99 everyday for the machine...dies run $ 7.99 to 13.99 or there abouts...with a 40% coupon you can't go wrong. I got the machine when it first came out at $ 100 and have not regretted it one bit...especially since Michael's now carries loads of the dies...

HTH,

Cool...thanks for all the responses. I cut out my 40% off coupon yesterday...I am going to wait two weeks to get the machine (Mother's Day gift perhaps???), but I'm going to go ahead and get at a die today with my coupon. :)

Do you know which die you're going to get??? I love hearing what people get/got for their first one...mine was the tags then the rectangle frame...I use both of those a lot.

Looking at my catalog, I am going to get a really basic one. I have it narrowed down to the following (whichever Michael's has will dictate)

Primitive Stars
Swirls
Splatter
The basic flower- it kind of looks like a daisy, with no stem
Bubbles
A leaf of some sort- I like the jungle leaves, and I also like the oak lookin leaf.

I'm going this AM so I will report back! :-) I have decided from now on, I am getting a Sizzix die with every Michael's coupon...like I said, I'm waiting for two weeks for the cutter...my Mom is coming up for Mother's Day, and she said she would splurge on one and we could "share" it---even though we live 700 miles away. She said it could stay with me, but when she moves up here (in a year or so) it would be joint property. Sounds good to me! I just love my Mom. :D :D

Drum roll please................................

My first Sizzix Die is Primitive Stars!!!

Yay! I stood in Michael's a few minutes with Primitive Stars and Splats in my hands and tried to decide. I went with the stars. I really wanted the swirls but they were out. They had a fairly good selection- I would say only about 12 were out of stock. What saved me from splurging----they were still out of the machines. So I couldn't even be tempted. I spent my $6.29 and was out. I love those 40% off coupons and can't wait to get the machine and more dies. :p

Awesome choice...and such WILLPOWER...I can never do that...I'm jealous...LOL. The primitives are so great for any kind of layout...now, just a few more weeks for that machine.

Also, have you seen the idea book Simply Sizzix??? I think it's great and might be worth using one of your coupons for...it's amazing what you can really do with that machine.

Congrats on your new purchase.

Donna-
I saw the slot where the idea book was supposed to go, but they were out. I may have to pick one up when I get the machine. I think the only reason I had any willpower was because I just spent $75 on Creative Memories, $35 at a scrapbook store last week, and my husband and I had a "talk" last night about finances, I knew I should only spend whatever cash I had on me...since that was only $10, it allowed for only one Sizzix. But oh boy, especially if Michael's has another 30% off your entire purchase coupon in the next month or two...........watch out! I will probably buy 6-7 dies at once.

I bet around Memorial Day they'll have another special coupon so save up some money...LOL!!! I have so many Sizzix dies that I've bought in the 2 years I've had it that now I'm just waiting for some new ones...I actually placed 2 orders through their website when the line first came out and Michael's had a stinky collection of dies...now they carry almost the whole line...AND, did you know that Michael's will also honor AC Moore coupons, so you can get 40% off TWO items at one time...and if AC Moore is running dies for 50% off, Michael's will MATCH that, too. Just some little FYI's so when the die bug hits you have some extra ammo...LOL.

Have you looked into ebay as a source for the machine (and dies)? You might be able to get it at an even better price than Michael's, even with a coupon. Of course you'd need to take into account S&H vs. sales tax when figuring cost, but I've seen some really good deals there. Just a thought.

I have the swirls, but I don't think I have every used them - I use all my other dies a lot, but that one just sits there looking lonely.

Has anyone got any neat ideas for things I could do with them???

Bev
