My DH is kind of a big guy (in regards to weight) and was unable to ride the ride inside Hogwarts due to his size - it was a little humiliating for him. He went through the entire queue line with me and then when it was close to getting on the ride they made him sit in a ride car to see if he would fit. He was unable to get the overhead harness down all the way so they told him he had to leave the line and wait for me outside. This was in front of everyone - they all could see this transpire. I felt very bad and sad for him.

Do I have to worry about this at any of the parks? Our last time there was 2012 and there was not a problem then, but a lot changes in 9 years.

If anyone can advise on this I would appreciate it so I can prepare my DH before we leave.

Thanks!

If you are referring to Universal rides, yes, this can still be an issue for people of varying shapes and sizes. Honestly, it also depends on how weight is carried on your body in some cases that can make a difference. My husband is tall and thin and has felt squeezed in his legs on some rides.

The best advice I can give is to try the test seats at the rides. Don't worry about people watching, I've seen kids jump onto those just to try them out. There are also videos online where visitors give their own experiences of fitting onto the rides, so those are worth checking out.

Disney does a really good job with us pooh sized. There are 2 rides that I won’t ride due to know size issues. Flight of Passage and Mine Train. FOP has a test seat at the start of the main que. I haven’t seen a test seat for Mine Train. For that reason I just skip that ride. I am 5”11 350+.

Any rides with a seat belt. Pull the seat belt as far out as u can before going around the waist.

Flight of Passage can be a problem for some people if they have particularly big calves. Seven Dwarves Mine Train can also be difficult for some people are the seats are somewhat narrow. My DH can do both of them, but FOP is touch and go sometimes.

Each side of the Harry potter area has outside measuring places so one doesn't have to go through the line before they find out. It is still kind of humiliating. The extent of the miss is more the question. I am large but if I had held my breath and broken my two lower ribs I would have been able to ride. However, to this point in time I have never been turned away from any Disney ride ever. I don't do space mountain but only partially because of my size. It is mostly because of my knees that makes it difficult to get out of the ride without a crane to lift me out. I think there are only three in Universal that I cannot ride. There may be others that I haven't even tried there so I don't really know, however, I have never been unable to do any others at Disney. Not even the one that I heard the most negative about, 7 Dwarfs Mine train. A little tight, but it really wasn't a problem.
