Size up or size down? Or lake view? BLT

Hi all - I just realized that I have three options for a 4-night stay (Wed - Sun) at BLT in May 2012 before a cruise that all have similar point values. I'll be calling next month, but before then wanted to get some opinions on these choices. We're leaning toward BLT right now because of its location near the monorail and MK. Since the cruise will require us to live in very close quarters, I'm considering option #2 and #3 below (if this is possible) because we'll have extra space. We are 2 adults and 2 boys (ages 7 and 9).

Assuming that the BLT has availability for any of these options, what would you recommend and why?

#1: Stay 4 nights in a Lake view 1-bdrm (162 points)

#2: Stay 2 nights in a Standard view 1-bdrm (W-F) and expand into a 2-bdrm for 2 nights (F-Sun) (168 points)

#3: Stay 2 nights in a Standard view 2-bdrm (W-F) and then lose the extra bedroom for 2 nights (F-Sun). (166 points)

I'm really surprised at how close these are in point values (and each option is within our budget)! Is the lake view worth not having the extra space for half the trip? And with options #2 and #3, would we be able to stay in the same room?

Thanks in advance!

I would go with the 1 BR LV and request north side even numbered room high floor. That way you may get the combination lv and also see the castle and MK off to the left. The 1 BR is very good sized and this way you will not have to change rooms after two days. The chance of getting the standard view rooms at 7 month are also slim from what I understand.

BLT 1BR's are large enough that they would not be worth the move to me. I would be leaning option 1

There is no guarantee that you would stay in the same room. (Would have to be booked as a lockoff to have a chance). In isolated incidents, it makes sense, but if enough people do it, messes up total availability and requests...

I would "#1: Stay 4 nights in a Lake view 1-bdrm (162 points)" - for me knowing it was going to be the same room the entire time makes the choice easy. Also the other 2 both involve a Standard view which is highly unlikely to be available at the 7 month mark.

I doubt you could get that many nights in a row in standard view- there are not that many standard view rooms in BLT and they normally are booked up in the first few days of the 11 month period so I would suggest planning on the LV option- not for the view but for the availability.

I wouldn't want to move, so I would take #1. Plus, it's just a bit less expensive!:thumbsup2

Option#1 - I hate moving rooms, especially after only 2 nights. We are a family of 4, and we stay in the BLT 1 bedrooms without any problems. My boys don't like to sleep together, so one gets the sofa and the other gets the pull out chair. The 1 bedroom villas at BLT are very spacious, and have the extra bathroom - perfect for 4 people.

Option 1 for sure.

Very difficult to get standard view in any size at the 10 month 2 week mark, nevermind 7 month mark...wouldnt want to move....and the 1bdroom is 800 sq feet - you will have PLENTY of room there....the chair bed and sofa bed are very comfortable and with 2 bathrooms you wont be cramped at all like on the cruise...

Recommend asking for a lake view with an even number - whether its north or south tower the rooms are still very nice and the living rooms are a bit larger...south side faces water pageant, monorail, contemporary, and we could see illuminations too! north side gives partial MK views...

Have a fun trip! I hope you can get what you are looking for!

Option 1 for sure. I just wouldn't waste the time and effort moving after two nights. Stay in the lake view one bedroom.
I own at BLT...I wanted a standard studio for early Dec....tried at the 11 month window...nada. There was nothing open. Those standard views go first and very quickly.

Love the Lakeview at BLT. Admittedly, you'll have a lot of time to look at the water on the cruise, but the lakeview rooms are so relaxing.

I'll agree with every one else... just stick with the 1 bedroom for the entire time. The 1-bedrooms at BLT are so spacious... and your kids won't have to share a bed, since you'll have both the sleeper sofa and the sleeper chair. You'll also have 2 bathrooms as well in the 1 bedroom.

I say, save a few points and don't deal with the hassle of moving...stick with the 1 bedroom for the entire time.

I'm going to have to agree with everyone else. I'd stay in the 1 bedroom with the lake view and not bother moving. IMO, it's just not worth it to have to pack up everything and move in the middle of your time spent there.

Definitely option #1. No way am I going to move after two nights!

Awesome -- Mark this date as the first time I've seen unanimity on this board! But the reasoning makes sense. I had no idea standard view was so rare, or that having the 2bdrm to 1bdrm would require moving.

Thanks everyone!

I know I am late to this thread but i just wanted to say that you probably wouldn't get a standard view anyway. I am going May 25-June 1st and they were all out of standard 1 bedrooms. I had to upgrade to a 1 bedroom MK view. I am heartbroken over it. :rotfl:

1 more vote for no move. 1 bedroom more than enough.

If you were adament about more space I would consider trying for BW stand, or AK value 2 bed for the 4 nights.

HA! I can tell! Does that mean there were no lake views either? We'll be there then too (but arrive on the 23rd)!
