Size of the rooms

Hi,
We are trying to talk our friends into traveling with us on the cruise. They are both big people. Over 350 lbs. He is worried about fitting comfortable in the door way, or the cabin it self.

They would also have 2 or 3 kids with them.

Hi Linda,

My friend is a similar weight and has cruised DCL before. No problems anywhere with the room, dining or for the shows. In the dining room I believe most of the chairs did not have arms anyway. Theatre seats were tight but OK.

Here is a link to two pictures showing the inside of a cat.6 cabin. The doorway really is about the same size as a regular door, maybe a bit smaller but The only thing that might be tight would be the bathroom-and even that would be ok I think. They could request a handicap cabin which would have a more spacious layout?

If you go to www.castawayclub.com and click on pictures you will get a good idea of cabin size, I think Barb even has one that shows the threshold door, I know she has one showing the bathrooms.

One of the women I was on an excursion with was telling me that she had a bruise from squeezing in and out of the bathroom door....we were in a handicap room so the doors were large, I have a regular room in May and I am hoping the doors to the bathroom are not that small LOL...

I think he would need an handicapp room. Last night we went to dinner with them, and he took up the whole bench.
I used to be large so I understand the struggles.

I would have him contact DCL and explain his situation, being someone who lost 45 pounds (and still needs to lose more) I can relate to being embarressed to discuss it but they are very compassionate at DCL. Being morbidly obese is a handicap of sorts and I would think they would do their best to accomodate him!

if they forsure decide to go with us, I'll talk to his wife ( who is also a big gal). I went from 246 to 117 ( I had gastric bypass). I understand being big and having problems. My decision to have surgery was because of a trip to WDW. I couldn't get fit into the turnstile. I"m only 5 3 so I was as round as tall.

WOW!! great for you!!! I am 5'3 also I wish I was only 117!!

It was a long year.. But it was all worth it. I would have the surgery again, if I had too..
I was lucky enough to have a tummy tuck - but now I have no belly button.. So if you see a lady at the pool at WDW or DCL with no belly button it might just be me..

If they request a handicap room, there will be no problem. Disney is one of the most "fat friendly" businesses I've ever seen. I'm now down 100 pounds + from my max weight....but even at my heaviest, never had a problem on the cruise as far as fitting in chairs, etc. With larger people, I've seen them put bigger chairs at the table for that individual. You do fit in the deck chairs, etc. and they do not make you feel out of place AT ALL.
