I work in a middle school, and this year has been the year from beyond. I have endured cursing, hitting, and tons of disrespect from the students.
Just today alone a student used a colorful word (the one that starts with the letter after E!) to me when I told him to sit down. It is a daily battle, and at least every day one of my 24/26 students are in the office for something... you name it, they do it.
It is a daily battle that is currently bothering me so much..
Well flash forward to 3:30, and I am in my daughters classroom, and another student.. (not my daughter) calls my name and runs across the classroom, and hugs me!
I just stood there in the classroom, and picked him up, and just started to cry... I let the teacher and the aide know later why I was crying... This students mom was actually in the classroom, and I told the mom how much that hug from her son meant to me..
If they could only stay six years old forever.....
