Is it true that a lot of gangs hang by there?

While I cant say for sure if alot of gangs hang around there, I can tell you that when we were there 2 years ago, it was SOOOOoooo much dirtier than DL/DCA and there was ALOT more loud, vulger, foul language flowing through the air. There were mostly "teenagers" around at the time we went. That, and when we were walking past a crowd of them, we caught a big ole' wiff of weed. To each his own...but in public? C'mon now.

Im not a prude....by any means either. But I felt "safer" at DL.

Rides at SF were AWESOME though!!!

SF is where a lot of area teens hang out same for Knotts, they don't go disney as much because it's disney and it's boring to them. so your going to have to put up with a lot of teens that may be gangbangers. if your not a roller coaster buff you mine as well skip the park as half the park is rollercoasters.

Well, at DL on Sunday we caught a big whiff of weed all the adults in the group all looked at each other when we smelled it.. A bit surprising but not shocking.


The "gangs" at KB and MM would not keep me away. If you love roller coasters there is no better place then magic mountain! For sure not a warm and fuzzy feeling that you get at DL.

MM is on the up and up, they have new management and the guy in charge is set on making the image of MM a good one, as it was in the 80s and early 90s. I went to an event at MM and was able to speak at length with him about the problems the park has had and he really is set on making the place more family orientated, all while holding on to the edgy thrill ride aspect as well.

Don't be afraid or put off by the image MM has suffered from, give it a chance. If you like good rides and good small kiddie rides it really has alot to offer.

Magic Mountain is a great place and it is in a potential renaissance period, support it! The coasters are really some of the best in the country.

As for the posting question: I worked there for many, many years during high school and college and now I go with my own kiddos. The crowd definately isnt "Disney" but its not as bad as it used to be.....i went through three riots as an employee!!! That hasn't happened in a long time. If you're a serious coaster fan then you MUST go! If you aren't in to serious thrill rides then it may not be worth the trip and money.

It's better than it used to be. We went in 2006 and we saw a few people who looked dressed like gang members (baggy clothing, etc.) but no overt bad behavior. The park has metal detectors, which probably keeps out the worst offenders.

We went to Magic Mountain on May 18th & 19th and thought it was a great park except the fact that some of the rides weren't running and the staff seemed to be very slow on some rides (Tatsu in particular). That being said, when we did get on Tatsu, it was the best coaster I have ever been on, followed closely by Goliath. Unfortuanatley X was down and didn't re-open until the following weekend and DeJavu didn't run either day. I found the park to be very clean and above my expectations although I'm sure it gets worse as the season picks up. There is a police sub-station on site so I doubt things get too out of control.

I don't know about the gangs, but alot of teens, parents drop them off for the day. and worse they buy them season passes.


My family and I nickname it Tragic Mountain,

It gets hot beyond hot in the summer. it's not strange for that place to hit in the 100s, then the water park is over crouded.

but it does have a good place for kids under 10

Distant cousin. Now, if it was Palmdale, that would be a different story.


I live in Valencia and SFMM does get a bum rap now and then. I think the only gripe that I have with them now is all the traffic it creates on the weekend (I take the Magic Mountain exit to get home). Cannot wait for that offramp to be all fixed and updated.

BTW, does anyone know what types of restaurants are going in at that development at the base of SFMM?

Yeah Palmdale needs to be relocated to somewhere near fresno.

They have been working on that ramp since before the wheel was invented.
MM exit ramps is horrible.,especially when I pull my boat to Castaic.

I Take the metrolink down to LA so much better than driving.

As for the resturants. I can only think overpriced ones lol.
