Anyone been through the Safari recently??

Haven't been in probably 20 years, just wondering if it worth it?

No, I htink its been that long for me.

Even with free tickets I dont think I would go to six flags, and I am in NJ lol

I was wondering about the safari myself.

Still can't call it anything but Great Adventure though... don't think I've been since the name change.

I have fond memories of the Yum Yum Palace. (Is that still there???)

Not so fond memories of the safari where a gang of rogue chimpanzees stole my favorite pillow out of the back of my dad's pickup truck and ripped it to shreds before my tear-filled 6 year old eyes. I won't even discuss the attack ostriches...

I also live in NJ and don't care for six flags, but silly me thought..oh it is something to do with the kids this summer.and I bought season passes...
Big Mistake...They have not updated the safari in probably 20 years. The
animal enclosures and painted plywood..not attempt to camoflauge them.
Just not as nice as when it opened. The park has the most ridiculous prices for food, I was there 2hrs with two of my kids and spent $40 and I didn't eat anything that was 2 chix kids meals(no fries) and 2 sm. dippin dots and 1 fry.
I compared to allears for disney and much cheaper in wdw. Yes the yum yum palace is still there but i think it is a different name. they do bugs bunny character breakfast. overall not a great value$65 a day to get in I'm sure how much for just safari i think about $20 and IMO not worth it.

Just go to Jungle Habitat instead...what? That's gone? Actually I hear that it just closed down but the animals were never relocated so if you just wander through the woods... Okay, its just an urban (read: Weird NJ) legend.

Slightly OT: how long can Dippin' Dots call themselves "Ice Cream of the Future"? How many years can pass before they have to call themselves "Ice Cream of Now"?

We actually went there twice so far this year after not going in about 20 ;) The first time I went was for the Girl Scout weekend they were having. It was actually a pretty good deal, $39 a person which included the safari, the park and food, plus a free return trip, which is why we went the second time ;)
I thought the safari was good. The baboons no longer run around, they are behind a fence. The giraffes got really close, they even licked our car windows, the kids loved it. It was probably the best part of the safari.
The park is a lot smaller than what I remembered and rolling thunder was not even operating, neither was El Toro, their new wooden coaster.
I thought it was worth the price, considering I basically paid $20 a person for each visit. Had I paid the full price, which I believe is around $63, I probably wouldn't have thought it was worth it.
