This is our first time to LA and we are planning a day at SFMM. We've never been to a six flags.
I have a couple of questions. How busy is it likely to be on a friday in August? What order do we do the rides in? What waiting times are likely for the rides?
Any tips and suggestions would be greatly received.
I was thinking of starting with the new Green Lantern ride seeing as its new and then making that the starting point going in an anti-clockwise direction - is this any good do you think?
Thanks in advance.

Mon to Thrus will be quieter than Fri-Sun.

I'd hit Green Lantern first, X2 also has long queues, then if Superman is open yet [I;m not sure] that will have big queues aswell.

Apart from that I'd start at the back of the park and work your way round.

X2 is a must ride, Deja Vu is different, Tatsu if you like flying rides. Goliath [sp] has long waits aswell, but is good. And do the standing one, the name escapes me, right now, Dr something....

Just going to watch this thread since I have some of the same questions. We are planning to go to Magic Mountain on our next visit and was curious as well. Carry on!

I’m thinking you’re not going to get much different advice than
from iHEARTflorida.

Friday’s in August can be very busy. The lines get long fast. You
have the right idea starting with Green Lantern at the top of the
day. Be prepared to get there at least 45 minutes before the gates
open and sprint to the ride - everyone going that day will be
doing that.

Just my personal opinion, but-if you are going to do Six Flags on a weekend, for the love of gawd, spend the extra money and buy a Flashpass that will allow you front of the line privileges. Lines on the weekend are horrible, and you most likely won't be able to do all the major coasters in one day without one. You can pre-pay and pre-order tickets, along with a Flashpass, at the Six Flags Magic Mountain website, so you don't have to stand in line before opening to buy tickets.

Monday thru Thursdays during the summer, the lines are more manageable...if I were going on on those days, I wouldn't bother with a Flashpass, just get to the park before opening, and you can manage to get on a good portion of the rides before 2p.m. (The rest of the year you are out of luck, as the park closes during the weekdays, except for busy holiday vacation periods.)

I agree on getting the flashpass. The lines get long on the weekend and they don't have near the ride capacity as a Disney ride so the lines move slower.

Also something to keep in mind if you are going in August is the heat. Magic Mountain is further inland than Disneyland and will be about 10-15 degrees warmer than Anaheim. Many of their rides have uncovered queues and the heat can take a toll on you.
