I'd love to be able to replace our working, but 10+ years old fridge, washer/dryer and dishwasher BEFORE they all break down on the same day. I really think that we could save some $$$ by converting to Energy Star products, but the only thing I could find to compare my old models with a newer model (avg) was the Dept. of Energy - and that was JUST for the fridge.

Is there a good site to use, where I could put in the model I have, the model I'd like, and see what the difference is?

I found this on my electric company's website

http://energyguide.com/

Enter your zip code and Analyze Your Use. I don't think this is exactly what you are looking for, but it is a start.

if you know what it uses you can get an idea from

http://michaelbluejay.com/electricity/

Look on the left side, there are links. It should give you an idea. I would think you could be able to google search your fridge and find out what it uses and find something similar or I think he has a calculator in there that you can put your numbers in and compare.

:lmao: I just clicked on that site during my lunch break, and it's being blocked because of Nudity. :) (I doubt there is any - our workplace has weird filters...)

I'll check it out after work. To the PP, the energy guide was a good link for me! It's more general than I was hoping, but still showed energy savings.

Thanks!

I bought a nifty device called a Kill-A-Watt to find out what our energy wasting items were: http://www.p3international.com/products/special/P4400/P4400-CE.html

You need to check your fridge as they change with age.

Surprisingly, many of our items weren't very bad, but we are saving almost 30 a month by not running the ceiling fans any more - I couldn't check them so we shut them off for 2 mos. to compare usage.

gosh I hope there aren't any nude shots of him. <shudder>

my biggest energy consumer was my coffee pot. I would think that you would save oodles just on the fridge and probably the oven. I invested in a toaster oven for cooking small things and a timer for my coffee maker.
