We will be at FW in July 05 with a 30" fifth wheel trailer with 3 slides. I have been reading some post commenting about " tight " sites.what loops will be able to accomodate us and still be able to open all 3 slides plus the awning ?? :cool1: :earsboy:

Have you made your reservation yet? If not, then go ahead and take care of that. If you have a AAA membership, then get your discount. If you do not find the information you need before you go, then when you check in you should request to see the "site map". This has the info on each site BUT does not show locations of trees, fences, trash receptacles, etc.

Just make sure you give them all information on your rig and I am sure they will find a suitable spot. We have been once and couldn't back in due to fences and trees but found another spot we could use and they let us have it.

Hi,

We have a 31' Cardinal trailer that we took to FW June '04. We discovered how tight the loops are when we tried backing into one of the inner loop spots. Couldn't make the tight turn and ended up with an unexpected souveiner...brown paint from the site marker on the front of my husband's F-250 truck. We immediatley called the front desk and asked for an outer loop spot. They said ok and we were able to get backed in with no problems. The site was plenty big for multiple slides. We stayed in the 1400 loop. We were a few sites down from the restroom facilities and just a stone's throw from the Campfire Sing-a-Long area.

Hope this helps.

We were in the 1300 loop and were in site 1321 which is on the outside of the loop. While our camper is smaller at 23" we have 3 tip outs (about the same depth as a slide) and an awning. We had no trouble at all. There was still lots of room on the site. There were many big rigs (motorhomes and 5'ers at 30-35') on this loop. I only saw a mh back in, but he made it look easy. I don't think you'll have a problem in this loop either. Like an earlier poster said, just make sure CRO knows your length and slides etc. We made sure we pulled into FW by 2pm so that we could still have a change at getting another location if our site didn't suit us, but we got into it just fine and were happy with the site.

We get there early too so we can get a "good" spot. I would hate to get there and not be able to fit into whatever spaces may be left over. We only have a 35' TT but with our tow vehicle it's about 50' total length trying to maneuver.

I can't quite remember what site we had last time we were there, but I believe it may have been in the 1400 loop. The bathroom was right there as well as where they did the campfire and outdoor movies.

We pull a 33' travel trailer with an F250 crew cab with an 8' bed. The length of the truck is 21'. So we are about 54-55'. My husband has been a truck driver for over 30 years. People will usually come out to watch him pull into sites thinking he won't be able to do it, and he usually does it first try. I love to see the look of amazement on peoples faces. Maybe I will start some wagering. Could help me pay for some of the vacation.

I wonder if you were in the coveted space (at least to me it is!!!) in 1400 right next to the walk/bike path? You drive thru the loop and go thru the curve then back straight into the site. I would love to get that one! It's got a nice grassy flat area for a tent or just to spread out.

It has been 3 years since we have been down. With all the camping we do, I can't remember. I usually keep everything from every vacation. I was just looking for the Disney stuff, but can't find it. May have thrown it out because we weren't really planning on going again so soon. My Mom watched the kids when we went on our cruise this past Valentine's Day, and since she has never been and it getting older, we thought it would be nice to take her.

I wonder if I call them about my reservation, they can tell me what site I have?

Sites are not assigned until about 2 days before you get there. They will not give you your site number until it is ready for you to occupy. Even if they check you in early and know the site # they will have you call back to the front desk later in the day to get the number after the people who are there are checked out and it has been cleaned.

If they don't assign sites until about 2 days before arrival, I wonder how they know they will have a site big enough to accomodate me available. Between the 33' Trailer, and the 21' Truck we use to tow, we are 55' in length. What happens if we get to the site, and we are unable to manuever around due to that and there are no other sites available?

Go to the comfort station and call the front to tell them you are having a problem. Go ahead and scope out other sites that you think will work and ask if one of those is available.

We have a 35' tt and tow with an excursion so we have a hard time getting into sites sometimes. That is why we get there early on our check in day. We want to make sure they have plenty of empty sites to choose from after everyone else checks out that day. We also usually arrive on a weekday so we aren't pulling in on Saturday with everyone else!

Thanks LMC.

We are getting there early on Saturday (hopefully before noon). I would assume that since they took my reservation they have an idea of how many sites will be available. I know last time we were there, once we were finally able to manuever into the site, it was large enough that we didn't even have to unhook the truck from the trailer.

That would be so nice!!

Last time we had to park all calliwonkus so it was hard for the kids to get in and out of our site on their bikes. Now I know to request another site if we are exactly happy with it.
