Okay, I got such great help with my EPCOT question, now I'll ask about MK. In the millions of times I've been there, I don't remember ever eating a table service meal - other than once in Cinderella's Castle. So, we have a family of 3 (DD is 10) and I'm trying to decide if I want to plan our main meal of the day in the park, or should we shuttle to one of the MK area resorts? What are the best - lunch or dinner? Nothing too pricey or extravagant. :thanks:

I don't like any of them personally. But I have never tried the Plaza or Crystal Palace.

Many people on the boards praise Crystal Palace, but it is a full-time character buffet and I am avoiding the characters.

Yes, should've mentioned we're not seeking out the characters either. Has anyone ever tried Liberty Tavern? How is that?

My family is crazy for the Crystal Palace. It's a nice restaurant, a good location, and we enjoy the characters. Plus, everyone finds something they like at the buffet. We eat there every single trip. We also like LTT for the character dinner, we've never had lunch there.

I think it's really a personal decision, I just like to have dinner in the parks. We spend the morning in a park, go back to the hotel for swimming in the afternoon, then back to whatever park for dinner and more fun.

We've ate at LTT for lunch. I think that it was pricey for sandwiches but I really did like what I got. They also brought DS1 turkey and did not charge us for it. The CM was very nice. My sandwich was roast beef or something along that line. Look up the menus for TS restaurants and see what appeals to your taste.

Crystal Palace was horrible. I got food poisoning from there and it ruined half of my honeymoon. If you go to a buffet try to get ADR when it first opens. That way the food is fresh and not many people have handled the tongs to get the food. Hopefully that lessens your chances of getting sick. IMO

We loved our Thanksgiving dinner at LTT last week. There were characters but it wasn't buffet style. I think you can request a non-character area. The food was quite tasty and dessert was yummy too.

Inside the MK our family loves LTT, it's really basic family style service. Crystal Palace was great but we've only had breakfast there. I think Kona, Ohana, and WCC are all awesome for dinner. I also enjoy leaving the park for a meal because it's a nice break, then when we head back we are more refreshed.:thumbsup2

LTT was not bad for lunch! No characters and the sandwiches are pretty good if expensive (but it's WDW, everything is expensive)

I did not like Tony's at all the last time I tried it. I have heard a few good things about the Plaza. But the next time I get to try an MK area restaurant I am going to the Wave.

This year we tried Plaza Restaurant and loved it!!! The food was excellent and the milkshakes were unbelievable!!!! We had never eaten there before and wanted to try something new. It is a small place, so try to get one of the earliest reservations. We had reservations at 12:10 and still had to wait at least a half hour. (We did have a party of 9 which may have contributed to our long wait.) We have eaten at most of the restaurants (both TS and CS) in MK and will return to Plaza. Keep in mind that Plaza is more of a sandwich type place, but the decor is nice and the wait for it was worth it.

Liberty Tavern or Crystal Palace, either one of them is very, very good! You need to be hungry at both places, the portions at Liberty Tree are very generous and CP is an all you can eat buffet.

I must vote for the Plaza. Nothing too extravagant, but good sandwiches and milkshakes. Nice location and atmosphere. :thumbsup2

Definitely go to the Plaza! It is an excellent choice for lunch or a light dinner. Most of the menu consists of sandwiches (really good burgers), but I have also tried the strawberry salad and thought it was great! :thumbsup2

We also like the LTT...the food is very good and the atmosphere is fun. We have never done the character dining there, but we like the "colonial" theme.

I know Tony's is hit and miss on reviews, but we loved Tony's...we've not had bad service and the food has always been good! We love having our meal on the patio...it is wonderful to sit and relax while enjoying the Main Street atmosphere. :goodvibes

If you want to venture out of MK take a nice boat ride over to WL and eat lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe. The wait staff is to die for!! :rotfl: Our servers name was Ken B. Krazy enough said.

LTT for lunch is wonderful...Im not crazy about the family style dinner.

Just keep in mind that many of the lunch items are hot/heavy meals...maybe something to avoid on a hot summer day when you are just looking for a cool wrap/sandwich.

The Plaza is a great choice. Light fare, but relaxing and gets you off your feet....great for lunch, not for dinner.

Crystal Palace is LOUD! Tons of kids..something I can deal with first thing in the morning, but by lunch/dinner, when Im hungry and getting a little tired and cranky..not the place for me. Plus, you have to get up and get your own food!

Tony's..another hot/heavy meal place...food not as good as LTT either.

Cinderellas is an experience. I do love it there, but it will be a good hour and half before you get out of there...better for breakfast or dinner.

If you are looking for a DINNER while at MK, I really, really suggest taking a quick Monarail ride to the Poly, Grand Floridian or Contemporary. The ride will get you off your feet for 10 or so minutes and the restaurants are a lot better.

Good Luck!!

The only sit down location my family and I have tried at the Magic Kingdom is the The Plaza and we thought it was a nice location, with good prices. So I would recommend looking at their menu.
