Do the WDW sit down restaurants allow you to split entrees? If so, is there a charge? On our past trips we have eaten primarily at counter service restaurants (except for the character meals) because of our kids ages. I'm thinking this trip we may be able to fit in a few sit down meals, but I know I could probably split an entree with my DM & then have a little room for dessert. Just wasn't sure whether they allowed 2 adults to split an entree. Anyone ever done this?

Yes you can split meals. Some of the restaurants will even split it on two plates in the kitchen. The only place we have paid a plate charge is Shula's.

We got back last week and split meals on several occasions at sit down restaurants....all with very positive experiences. Seems that wherever we went, they were more than happy to accomodate us. Gosh, my husband and I even asked if we could split the lunch special at Chefs de France (we had ressies for dinner at Wolfgang Puck's 4 hours later so we didn't want to ruin our appetites) and they proceeded to split each part of the 3 course meal for us! I was very pleased!

I don't like to waste food and while we love to eat, we're not huge eaters and do much better splitting things. I can't say I've ever received a negative response at Disney when requesting this.

Enjoy!

I hate throwing away food, too! It's terrible to be sitting there totally "stuffed" and thinking that surely I can stuff down one more bite considering how much I just paid for that meal!!! Believe me, I don't have a little appetitite, in fact, it's quite hardy, but so many places serve HUGE portions! I love to share! Why not, if it saves you from a guilty conscience and saves some money at the same? It's great that Disney is so nice about it!

You can split meals pretty much anyplace except all you care to eat (O'Hana for example) and buffet places.

Just keep in mind that your server is stills erving two people, so adding a few extra dollars to the tip is greatly appreciated :)

We always share meals, as I had Gatric Bypass Surgery last year and can't eat alot.
In June my kids 8 and 5 shared kids meals even, the portions are large . But in Dec they needed their own. I would definitely let younger kids share if they can agree. My kids had to alternate picking what to order .

DD and I always split meals at Disney. They never bat an eye and are always great about doing so. Many places will put the meal on separate plates before serving.

We split almost every meal on our last trip (we even split meals and used 1 Hotwire meal voucher.) The only place that gave us a little resistance was Sci-Fi and once our server talked to a manager to make sure, it was fine. They didn't even blink an eye anywhere that we asked. We did, however, make sure that we left a larger tip for the trouble. princess:

Let me know if you want to take a look at my dining report to see where and what we split. :)

Split every meal on our last visit, and found it was often cheaper doing that than dining counter service... plus the food is better =) They always split it in the back for us, and didn't bat an eye. Even with splitting meals, I sometimes still didn't finish it all - the portions are HUGE!

Glad to hear about all the positive experiences with plate sharing. Three members of our family on this trip, myself being one, are Weight Watchers members and this was suggested at our weekly meeting as a way to try the different food offerings, but not expend too many of your daily points. I am also in agreement about not wanting to feel "stuffed" especially when it is hot and humid, not to mention not wanting to waste food.

Cool, this is one thing I had been wondering about. We will be going in June with a total of 5 kids, 11 and 9 year old boys, two 4 year old, one of each and a 18 month old girl. It will be great to be able to split meals for the younger 3 and sometimes the 9 year old as well. Save some money.

And completly off the subject, but WHERE DID YOU GET THAT FLAMINGO??? Pink Flamingo. I just love flamingos, I have them all over my office at work. We are just a little obsessed with them at work, that is why they are there instead of at home. We even have a full sized one that plays music that we have costumes for.

Thanks for all the reports about splitting meals. This is such great news! I'll certainly remember about adding a little extra to the tip ~ it will be well worth it. I can't wait to try some of the sit down restaruants ~ it will be quite a nice change.

SRUAlmn - I would love to read your dining report. Do you have a link?

bigmerle - I can't remember exactly where I got the flamingo - it was somewhere on the web. I found it a while back by doing a google search. I have grown to love flamingos myself. When my DS's were younger they insisted I have a nickname when we played a game. Well, 5 years later, my family now all refer to me as Pink Flamingo & of course I always receive some sort of flamingo whenever gifts are given. "A full sized one that plays music & has costumes" - now that I would love!
