Debating on whether or not a sit and stand stroller is big enough for a 5 and 3 year old. We will be going to disney in November. The 3 year old naps occasionally and the 5 year old naps when really tired(not often) but disney wears you out. Is the front part of the sit and stand stroller big enough to make a 3 year old comfortable for sleeping?
thanks in advance

I personally don't think so. A 3 yr old's head is far above the top of the seat and it doesn't recline that much. Check your local Goodwills for a double jogger. That's what we used on our last trip.

I just bought a double stroller off craiglist that holds upt o 140 lbs. That type of thing would be a much better option IMO. We have a sit and stand, but it is not good for tired 5 year olds since they can't lay back.

Can you post what kind you found? I have been looking for strollers that would carry higher limits and haven't found anything. Thanks!!

In my experience, a sit and stand will not be big enough for the 3 year old to nap in.

Our last Disney trip we purchased a "buggy board" to attach to the back of our stroller. It was PERFECT. Sleepy 2-yr-old was able to sleep in her comfy stroller while 5-yr-old rode on the back. Was very nice when crowds got large because I felt like we did a better job of keeping 5-yr-old close at hand on her buggy board. Bought our's off ebay. Well worth it.

I would also like to know what stroller you purchased. Thanks!!

I was planning on renting a jogging stroller from somewhere {Orlando Stroller Rental maybe?} so I can always have one no matter what, but the more I think about it I wonder why I'm not just going with a park stroller. They look much bigger and then there would be room for our other stuff next to her. What are the cons of a park stroller, besides price. I'm going for ease...

Another vote for NO! I have an almost 5 yr old and almost 3 yr old and I have not even considered using ours for our trip. The front seat is small and does not recline more than a few inches. Definitely go with a double jogger or a park stroller.

Sorry guys, I didn't check back until now.

I bought a Safe Tech
http://www.safetechstrollers.net/double_jogging_stroller.html

It says holds up to 140 lbs combined. It seems the you have to go with a jogger if you want a higher weight limit. With my boys being 5 years apart, it was my only option besides the sit and stand.

I bought it off Craigslist last week and have tried it with both boys in it in case it was not stable, but even with their big weigh difference (a 1 year old who weighs around 23 lbs and a 6 year old who weighs close to 50 lbs) it didn't feel lopsided or tippy on turns!

We're headed to WDW next month with it, so I will definately post about how well it holds up when we get back.

Also, it is not THAT much wider than a travel system stroller, another bonus!

I would say yes but you know your kids best. My girls do fine in a sit and stand now at 3 & 5 and also did fine in it when they were 1 & 3. But we take afternoon breaks, go to bed early and don't "commando" the parks. Our friends, whose twins were 4 the first time we went, didn't even use a stroller and now the twins are 6 and they, of course, won't be using one next month either. All kids are different and how we all vacation is different. Do what will make your vacation the most enjoyable.

There is no way my small 2 yr old would be comfortable taking a nap in our sit & stand. The back seat kid must sit upright; there's no back to the seat. I would only use it if your kids needed it because their legs got tired, not because they need a comfortable place to retreat to.

I'm renting a Baby Jogger City Mini double form Magic Strollers. It's much less expensive than a park stroller and it's a VERY nice stroller.

I would be perfectly willing to buy a Maclaren twin off of Craigslist, but they are going for about $200 here and it's more than I can part with before a Disney Vacation (even if I were to sell it when we got home). So I will rent for $85!

We just bought a sit and stand to use for our trip. My daughters are 4 and 7. We just decided to try it out and see how we do and size wise we fit them fine...my kids have done other parks and were ok but WDW is alot more walking then our local parks. Plus a few weeks ago my daughter broke her ankle and will just get her cast off two weeks before we go...we leave on Thanksgiving and the cast comes off on the 9th. We are low budget this time around as life keeps throwing us curve balls and we were lucky to find this stroller for 20$. I was skeptical but its in great shape. You are right the stroller doesnt tilt back far but in our vacation late EMH were limited...most parks open til 9-ish. When we sat back and thought hmmm 20$ for the stroller or 31 a day for a double there was very little comparison.
Of course if we had to pay full price it might be another story....

Plus the money we save in rental fees pays our TS tips...
